The award is presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution’s team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade-point average or higher—OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The Lady Govs golf team had seven of its student-athletes earn such distinction. Entering the season as defending champions placed lofty expectations on a Lady Govs team that was comprised of two returning starters and four freshmen to fill out the lineup. It all started when the No. 2 doubles team of junior Vanja Tomic and freshman Andra Cornea allowed JSU’s Ralphaela Lima and Raisa Guasti to comeback from a 7-2 deficit. Lady Govs Tennis hosts JSU for Senior DayAPSU Women’s Tennis
The Lady Govs have won back-to-back OVC matches, against Eastern Illinois and at Murray State. Sophomore Carolin Weikard has played especially well as of late, winning four of her last five matches at No. 2 singles. Weikard’s match gives Lady Govs win against Murray StateAPSU Women’s Tennis
After dropping the first set in match controlled by her opponent, Weikard adapted for the second set and found a way to win. Much like the OVC Tournament final, last season, Weikard battled in the deciding match.
