Austin Peay State University Tennis’ Fabienne Schmidt earns OVC Scholar-Athlete Award

 

APSU Women's TennisBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team senior Fabienne Schmidt has earned one of six prestigious Ohio Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Awards for the 2019-20 academic year.

Hailing from Hillscheid, Germany, Schmidt has established herself as one of the top tennis players in the OVC and one of the best in Austin Peay State University history.

Montgomery County’s Civitan Park 25 Acre Expansion Open for Use

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – On Friday evening, September 6th, 2019, approximately 200 people gathered to celebrate the much-anticipated opening of the 25-acre expansion, including Rotary’s Field of Dreams, at Montgomery County’s Civitan Park.

The idea for the park expansion began nine years ago with a vision to have a space that kids with special needs could call their own. That vision is now a wonderful reality for children, young adults and parents alike.

APSU endows scholarship honoring late communication professor John Moseley

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In 2014, Austin Peay State University established the John W. Moseley Media Room in the Dunn Center, but nearly three years later, a related scholarship honoring the late professor had not been endowed.

“I found out we were short about $500.00,” Dr. Mike Gotcher, former chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of Communication, said. “I made a donation, and I contacted Bikers Who Care, who also helped out, and we got it endowed.”

Be More Like Wade 5k Run a huge success

 

Wade Morgan - Be More Like WadeCunningham, TN – On Saturday, July 25th the Be More Like Wade 5k Scholarship Run/Walk/Crawl was held at the Central Civitan Club building just before the 107th annual Lone Oak Picnic. The race started at 8:30am.

“We’re here today having a scholarship run in memory of Wade Morgan,” said Jessica Morgan.

Wade Morgan passed away on March 3rd, 2015. He was a Montgomery Central High School graduate from the class of 2002. By creating this event the organizers hope Wade’s memory will live on and more people will #bemorelikewade.

Fort Campbell, KY – Members of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) staff spent time making new friends at the Pinnacle bowling alley in Clarksville, Tennessee, August 27th, 2013.

The Rakkasan staff volunteered with a special needs athletic league known as Buddy Ball as a way of giving back to the community.
