Salt Lake City, UT- The Nashville Sounds (40-40) could not overcome a poor start in a 5-1 loss to the Salt Lake City Bees (32-48) on Tuesday afternoon at Smith’s Ballpark. The defeat dropped Nashville to an 8-16 mark in its last 24 road games.
The Bees tagged Sounds starter Johnnie Lowe (0-3) for four runs in the top of the 1st, providing all the offense they would need to pick up a win. Lowe lasted just 2/3 of an inning, taking the loss after allowing four earned runs on four hits and two walks.

Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team staged another come-from-behind rally to post a 6-3 victory against Lipscomb, Tuesday night at Dugan Field. The win gave the Govs their first three-game win streak of the 2014 campaign.
Clarksville, TN – A three-run fifth inning proved enough as the White Team claimed a 3-0 victory in Game 2 of Austin Peay State University baseball team’s annual Red-White World Series, Saturday afternoon, at Raymond C. Hand Park.
The game was again held scoreless through four innings. White starter Levi Primasing scattered four hits and struck out four in his four innings. Meanwhile, Red starter Zach Hall tossed four scoreless innings, striking out six and allowing only one hit.
Oklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds came up one run short in Tuesday night’s contest at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, losing 5-4 to the Oklahoma City RedHawks, who claimed the American Southern Division and a postseason berth as a result.
Down 4-1, the Sounds strung together a two-run two-out rally in the sixth inning courtesy of a triple from Nashville second baseman Eugenio Velez, 2-for-4.
Round Rock, TX – The Nashville Sounds blew a ninth-inning lead but recovered to post a 7-5, 12-inning victory over the Round Rock Express on Monday evening at The Dell Diamond.
In the top of the twelfth, the Sounds snapped a string of 16 consecutive batters retired by Round Rock pitching when Blake Lalli reached on a one-out infield single off Nate Robertson (1-2). Josh Prince followed with a walk before Stephen Parker hit a liner to center that was misjudged by Engel Beltre, resulting in a go-ahead RBI double that put Nashville on top, 6-5. Anderson De La Rosa lifted a sac fly to right that gave the Sounds a two-run cushion.
Nashville, TN – The Sacramento River Cats took their third straight game from the Nashville Sounds, prevailing 8-4 on Monday evening at Greer Stadium.
River Cats starter Bruce Billings (3-2) turned in a quality start to post the victory, striking out eight batters while allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits over six innings of action. It marked the right-hander’s third quality start in his last four outings.
