Clarksville, TN – Even though this will be the 30th time—26 at Austin Peay State University—Dave Loos has prepared to tipoff practice as head men’s basketball coach, he nonetheless still gets excited this time of year.
And as Loos and his Governors are set to initiate practice, 6:00pm, Sunday, in Dave Aaron Arena, the Governors longtime head man anxiously awaits the official start.

Youngstown, OH – Travis Betran scored 24 points, including the go-ahead free throw, and Zavion Williams added 20, including the game-sealing jumper with 15 seconds left, as Austin Peay State University rallied from a late six-point deficit to defeat Youngstown State, 88-86, Saturday night in the Beeghly Center.

Clarksville, TN – Senior Anthony Campbell scored 20 points, including his career’s 1000th, to lead Austin Peay State University to a 108-53 victory against Berea College in non-conference basketball action, Wednesday night, in Dave Aaron Arena.

Clarksville, TN – Coming off a 20-win season and returning four starters, Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team has been picked to win the 2011-12 Ohio Valley Conference championship in a vote of league coaches and sports information directors.
In addition, returning first-team All-OVC selection TyShwan Edmondson and junior forward Anthony Campbell, a second-team All-OVC selection in 2009-10 before a knee injury felled him a year ago, have been named preseason All-OVC.
That was announced Tuesday at OVC Media Day, held at the Maxwell House in Nashville.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s basketball team officially will open practice, 8:00pm, Friday, for its annual Reigning Red in Dave Aaron Arena.
Reigning Red not only will feature the traditional Wendy’s Chili dinner and contests, it will also see the 2011-12 Governors and Lady Govs basketball teams introduced to the Governors and Lady Govs fans.
The Governors are coming off a 20-14 campaign that saw them finished tied for second in the Ohio Valley Conference race and play in the College Basketball Invitational.
Clarksville, TN – Nineteen Austin Peay State University athletics alumni and current student-athletes are scheduled to participate in Summer Commencement ceremonies, Friday, at the Dunn Center.
Six alumni were among the candidates to receive their master’s degrees during the ceremony. In addition 13 student-athletes will receive their bachelor’s degrees, including men’s basketball student-athlete Duran Roberson who will receive two degrees.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team has added to its backcourt and frontcourt depth in signing a pair of players for the 2011-12 season.
Jerome Clyburn, a 6-1, 180-pound point guard from Santa Fee Community College in Gainesville, FL, and Chris Freeman, a 6-6, 210-pound forward from Muhlenberg High School in Greenville, KY, have signed letters of intent to play for the Governors.
Clyburn, an Orange Park, FL, native who originally played at Southern Mississippi out of high school, averaged 13 points per game, shooting 53 percent from the floor, and 4.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game in his one season with Santa Fe. He was named to the All Mid-Florida first-team.
