Nashville Predators win epic battle over the Calgary Flames 4-3

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators fought back from the brink of death tonight to defeat the Calgary Flames in an absolute “barn burner,” 4-3.

Mikael Granlund was the hero tonight with two point, including the game tying and game winning goals, to defeat their conference rivals.  Both teams are battling for points to stay in the playoff race, and tonight was Nashville’s night.

Colton Sissons started the scoring for the Predators at 19:28 of the opening frame, taking a feed from Colin Blackwell and firing the “one timer” to beat David Rittich of the Flames for the 1-0 lead.

Nashville Predators blow three goal lead to fall to the Calgary Flames 6-5

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators held a three goal lead after two periods of play, only to fall in overtime to the Calgary Flames, 6-5 in Nashville.  It was a stunned Smashville crowd that headed for the exits when Mathew Tkachuk slipped the game winner past Pekka Rinne as the buzzer sounded to end the extra period.

The Predators were in full command of this one right from the start.  Nick Bonino continued his scoring onslaught as he gave Nashville the early 1-0 lead, just 5:33 into the opening period.  The Bonino backhand slipped past David Rittich and that gave Bonino four goals in his last four shots, including the hat trick on Tuesday night against the Blackhawks.

Instant Peay Play: Former APSU Gov Morgan Rackel ends summer with silver medal at Pan Am Games

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – To say former Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball standout Morgan Rackel has had a heck of a run over the past few months would be an understatement, as she wrapped up her summer by winning a silver medal last week as part of Team Canada at the 2019 Pan America Games in Lima, Peru.

The Calgary, Alberta native was a part of the silver medal winning team that posted an overall record of 5-2 at the games, with their only two losses coming to the top-ranked team in the world, Team USA, by a 6-1 final in the preliminary round and 3-1 in the gold medal game, while defeating Puerto Pico (3-1), Venezuela (8-0), Peru (7-0), Mexico (4-0) and Team USA (3-1).

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – With former Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball player Morgan Rackel signing a professional contract this week to play softball with the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois, of the National Pro Fastpitch League, it adds yet another chapter to the athletic department’s history and legacy.

Over the last 60-or-so-years, over 100 former Governors from at least nine different sports have gone from playing for the red and white in Clarksville to the professional ranks in their respective sports, with Rackel joining that select group this week as the first former Govs softball player to make a professional roster.

Nashville Predators defeat Minnesota Wild 4-2

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators completed their five game home stand with a 4-2 win over the visiting Minnesota Wild tonight at Bridgestone Arena.  After a disappointing opening night loss, the Preds have now reeled off four straight wins, improving to 5-1 on the season.

Craig Smith put the Predators up 1-0 on a backhander that beat Wild starting goalie, Alex Stalock, with assists from P.K Subban and Ryan Johansen.  Stalock got the start over Devan Dubnyk for Minnesota.

Nashville Predators drop home opener to Calgary Flames 3-0

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators disappointed a sellout crowd at Bridgestone Arena tonight, losing to the Calgary Flames, 3-0.

Flames goaltender Mike Smith was a brick wall in net for Calgary, stopping 43 shots on goal, and earning the shutout. 

Elias Lindholm got the Flames on the board with a goal on the power play in the first period for the 1-0 lead.  Sean Monahan then gave the Flames a 2-0 lead and Nashville was behind the eight ball after two periods.

Nashville Predators Complete Two Game Sweep With Win Over Edmonton Oilers 4-0

 

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – Following a dominating 7-1 win over Vancouver on Wednesday night, the Nashville Predators provided an encore with another dominating victory, 4-0 over Conner McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers in Vancouver.

Predator’s goalie Juuse Saros was the star of the night, pitching a shut-out, stopping a franchise record, 46 shots on goal.  Saros topped his previous record of 43 shots blocked on his last start against the Dallas Stars.  

Starting goaltender, Pekka Rinne, stopped 25 shots last night in the win over Vancouver.
