Tennessee Vols Football plays Missouri Saturday at Neyland Stadium

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee celebrates Senior Day on Saturday as it closes out its home schedule against Missouri at 2:30pm CT at Neyland Stadium.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast on CBS with Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson in the booth and Allie LaForce reporting from the sidelines.

Tennessee (7-3, 3-3 SEC) will be making its fifth appearance on the SEC on CBS Game of the Week this season, its most since 1998 when it made six regular season appearances on the network. Earlier this season, the Vols are the first team in history to be featured on CBS in four straight weeks.

Vols lose second straight game to a Top 10 team on Saturday

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 9/11 Tennessee fell to No. 1/1 Alabama 49-10 on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

Alabama jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but Tennessee (5-2, 2-2 SEC) pulled within seven in the second quarter after forcing a turnover in Crimson Tide territory. Derek Barnett got around the edge and forced a fumble by quarterback Jalen Hurts. Quay Picou recovered the ball to set the Vols up at Alabama’s 11-yard line.

Two plays later, Alvin Kamara rushed seven yards up the middle on a read-option play to bring the score to 14-7.

#14 Tennessee Volunteers rally from behind to beat #19 Florida Gators 38-28

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 14/12 Tennessee scored 38-straight points, Joshua Dobbs was responsible for five touchdowns and the Vols roared back in the second half to take a 38-28 victory over No. 19/16 Florida.

Tennessee (4-0, 1-0 SEC) trailed 21-0 in the second quarter and 21-3 at the half. After Florida (3-1, 1-1 SEC) had outgained UT 300-162 in the first half, the Vols dominated the second half with 336 yards to the Gators’ 102. Derek Barnett sparked the defense in the second half with a pair of sacks on key third downs.

With the win, Tennessee snapped an 11-game losing streak against Florida (3-1, 1-1 SEC). The Vols also earned their first win in its SEC opener since 2004 when they also defeated the Gators 30-28 to begin the conference schedule.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 14/12 Tennessee renews one of its biggest rivalries when the Vols take on No. 19/16 Florida on Saturday at 2:30pm CT on CBS. ESPN College GameDay will kick off the festivities on Saturday at 8:00am CT.

Saturday will mark the second time this season that ESPN College GameDay will be on-site for a Tennessee contest. The College GameDay crew of Rece Davis, Samantha Ponder, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack was in Bristol, Tennessee, two weeks ago for the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol featuring the Vols and Virginia Tech.

Tennessee Vols hold on for 28-19 win over Ohio

Tennessee Vols wins their ninth straight game and moves to 3-0 with a 28-19 win over Ohio

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN –  Josh Malone caught two touchdown passes from Joshua Dobbs as No. 15/15 Tennessee outlasted Ohio, 28-19, on Saturday afternoon in Neyland Stadium.

Dobbs finished 19-of-27 for 203 yards, two touchdowns and one interception and rushed 14 times for 59 yards and a score.

Malone matched his career high with five catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns.

The Vols (3-0) racked up 201 rushing yards. Alvin Kamara had 67 yards on 11 carries and Hurd finished with 61 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries.

Tennessee Vols Football beats UT Chattanooga 45-10 at Neyland Stadium

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Senior quarterback Justin Worley threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as Tennessee pounded Chattanooga, 45-10, before 93,097 on Homecoming at Neyland Stadium. The Vols ended a three-game losing streak and evened their record at 3-3.

Worley finished the day 19-of-24 for 198 yards connected with Johnathon Johnson twice and Marquez North once for touchdowns. Worley became the first Vols quarterback with a pair of rushing scores in a game since Casey Clausen ran for a two 1-yard TDs in a 2002 Citrus Bowl win over Michigan.

Tennessee Volunteers lose to Florida Gators 10-9 at Neyland Stadium

 

University of Tennessee - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Florida’s winning streak against the Vols continues.

Florida took its first lead of the game with 6:20 left in regulation and held on for a 10-9 victory over Tennessee (2-3, 0-2 SEC). It was the Gators (3-1, 2-1 SEC) 10th consecutive victory in the series, dating to a 30-28 Vols’ victory on Sept. 18th, 2004, on a last-second field goal by James Wilhoit.

Florida’s quarterback change from Jeff Driskel to Treon Harris proved to be the difference for the Gators getting their offense kick-started. He led the Gators to both of their scoring drives and their 10 fourth-quarter points.

UT Volunteers roll past Utah State Aggies 38-7 at Neyland Stadium

Tennessee Vols - UT Vols - University of Tennessee VolunteersKnoxville, TN – The University of Tennessee football team won its 20th home opener in a row in front of a sell-out crowd of 102,455, defeating the Utah State Aggies, 38-7, on Sunday night at Neyland Stadium.

In the 2014 opener, the Vols played a record 20 true freshmen and 10 newcomers, which surpassed the 2011-12 record number of 12 true freshmen seeing action.

Senior Justin Worley had a complete night under center, going 27-for-38 for 273 yards, marking career highs for completions and attempts. His 13 straight completions were good the fourth best in school history. Worley’s three touchdown passes also tied his career high.
