Nashville, TN – For the first time since the 2007 season Eastern Illinois has been picked the favorite in the Ohio Valley Conference football race.
The defending champion Panthers picked up 12 of the 18 first-place votes in the 2013 poll which is a vote of league head coaches and sports information directors.

Clarksville, TN – Picked third in the preseason Ohio Valley Conference race, Murray State got off to a slow start, winning just one game in its first four contests, including a heartbreaking overtime loss to Eastern Illinois.
The Racers took out their early-season frustrations on Tennessee Tech last Saturday, scoring 49 first-half points en route to a 70-35 drubbing of defending league champ Tennessee Tech.

Murray, KY – Murray State returned two first-half fumbles for touchdowns in building a 26-0 lead as the Racers defeated Austin Peay State University, 56-24, Saturday afternoon at Roy Stewart Stadium in Ohio Valley Conference football action.
Austin Peay fell to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the OVC. Murray State improved 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the OVC.

Clarksville, TN – Last Saturday’s game with Central State was Senior Day. It marked the last home performance for eight Govs’ seniors: safety Amius Smith, running back Ryan White, wide receiver Scott Thomas, offensive lineman Devon McVea, offensive tackle James Barker, offensive tackle J.P. Washington, center Tim Schmid and long snapper Nick Newsome. After owning a school-record 26 seniors in 2009, the Govs had half that many (13) in 2010.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team lost a shoot-out to Murray State, 61-35, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action played at Governors Stadium.
For the second time this season, senior Terrence Holt and junior Ryan White each rushed for 100-plus yards in a losing effort. Holt finished with 140 yards on 14 carries, including a season-high three touchdowns. He also had 189 yards on kick returns, totaling 338 all-purpose yards. White had one touchdown on 119 yards, carrying the ball 21 times.
Holt’s first TD run, a 44-yard, third-down run, cut Murray State’s lead to 21-14 at the beginning of the second quarter. The Racers answered with a 18-yard touchdown run by Casey Brockman, and then back-to-back field goals to make it 34-14 at the break.

Clarksville, TN – Thirteen seniors will be honored prior to kickoff on Senior Day.
Since rejoining the Ohio Valley Conference the Governors own a 1-2 record against Murray State. The Govs lost in Murray, 27-17, in 2009.
Austin Peay enters the contest on a six-game losing streak. The Govs have endured at least a six-game losing streak five times since the new millennium, the longest losing streak (eight games) coming in the 2003 season.
Senior running back Terrence Holt made his first career start at running back against UT Martin. Even though he has shared the running back duties with Ryan White for the past two seasons, the latter always has drawn the starting nod until last Saturday.
