Charles Hand Completes 10 Years of Service to Clarksville-Montgomery County Airport Authority
Hand has been a member of the airport’s governing board since July 1st, 2007, serving two consecutive five-year terms, the maximum continuous allowed by the authority’s bylaws. Clarksville’s LEAP Organization Celebrates Youth Development Day
The Gala opened with a string musical ensemble by the Brio Strings as guests were greeted, seated, and served by youth and mentors. That certainly is not the case with this year’s newest Red Coat Society inductees, Hal Mathews and Terry Griffin. Through thick and thin, great and not-so-good seasons in APSU athletics, both became Austin Peay fans early in their respective lives and remain so as adults. The Red Coat Society, now in its 12th year, serves as a Hall of Fame of service for the Governors Club, APSU’s Athletics booster club. Mathews and Griffin will be honored at halftime of the Governors-Murray State men’s game, Saturday. Unchallenged for years as the official mascot for Austin Peay State University, Governor Peay X’s stranglehold on that role appears in serious jeopardy. A new candidate – known as ‘The Gov’ – has emerged to oppose the incumbent in a race to become the face of Austin Peay. Austin Peay is rife with change at the moment. A new logo, refurbished football stadium and the addition of new President Dr. Alisa White have made the climate right for a challenger to a long-established figure.
