Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre, Dance and Nashville Children’s Theatre partner for Apprentice Program

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUNashville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Department of Theatre and Dance and Nashville Children’s Theatre (NCT), the nation’s oldest professional theatre for young audiences and the largest theatre in Middle Tennessee recently partnered on an apprentice program to help APSU students further their collegiate careers by engaging directly inside the industry.

Nine years earlier, on their first date, the couple bonded over their mutual love for the classical-crossover superstar who originated the role of Christine Daaé in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “The Phantom of the Opera.” Bailey, an Austin Peay State University (APSU) musical theater professor, might have even owned a cardboard Sarah Brightman CD display as a teenager.

Clarksville Police report Pedestrian Fatality on 41A Bypass, Vista Lane

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – This morning, Monday, August 27th, 20188 at 4:25am the Clarksville Police Department responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian at the 41A Bypass and Vista Lane.

According to witnesses the pedestrian stepped out in front of a vehicle and the driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. The pedestrian was a 77 year old white, male named Franklin Massie.

Clarksville Police were dispatched this morning to a traffic accident involving a pedestrian.

APSU Theatre and Dance recognized at national dance conference

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this month, the Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance participated in the American College Dance Conference (ACDA) in Hartsville, South Carolina, where an original piece choreographed by Margaret Rennerfeldt, department chair, was selected for the event’s prestigious gala performance.

“The American College Dance Association (ACDA) is at the forefront of dance in higher education,” Marcus Hayes, associate professor of dance, said.

APSU students Claire Estes, Patrick Pride, Britanie Childs, Alexandria Heide, Kelly Barrios, Janesha Boothe, Diondre Booker, Megan Cundiff and Destiny Smith performed an original piece choreographed by Margaret Rennerfeldt at the American College Dance Conference.

APSU professor Christopher Bailey joins vocal group Tenore on North American tour

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University associate professor of theatre and dance Christopher Bailey had the opportunity to tour North America as a member of the award-winning vocal group Tenore, this past January.

Bailey joined as a reserve member of the four-man group for the January leg of its “The Impossible Dream” tour, performing in seven western states, as well as Canada. Bailey was featured on dates at, among others, venues in Los Angeles, New Orleans and Edmonton, Alberta.

APSU Department of Theatre and Dance to put on new show “Broadway on the Cumberland” November 20th-23rd

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Next fall, the Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance will offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in musical theatre. That means some of the glamour and energy of the big New York shows will begin trickling into the University’s Trahern Theater.

Later this month, the department will offer a sneak peak of that program with its new show, “Broadway on the Cumberland.”
