Tennessee Highway Patrol announces Cinco de Mayo Traffic Safety Enforcement

 

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will increase patrols and conduct specialized traffic safety enforcement during the Cinco de Mayo holiday in an effort to reduce serious injury and fatal crashes across the state. State troopers will observe this year’s Cinco de Mayo holiday period between 12:01am on Tuesday, May 5th through midnight, on Wednesday, May 6th.

Last year, the 96-hour Cinco de Mayo enforcement period resulted in 15 fatal crashes and 16 vehicular deaths across Tennessee. Seven of the 16 traffic fatalities were alcohol-related (43.8%) and seven of the fatalities were unrestrained (43.8%). Five motorcyclists were killed, while one pedestrian died. Three of the traffic fatalities occurred on Cinco de Mayo.

Nashville Sounds begin Eight Game homestand at First Tennessee Park Monday, May 4th

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds return to First Tennessee Park on Monday, May 4th to face off against the Iowa Cubs (Triple-A Cubs) and Round Rock Express (Triple-A Rangers) in a pair of four-game sets.

The homestand will include the AASC Peanut Free Night, a Sounds Calendar giveaway, Fox 17 Friday Night Fireworks and more. Beginning this homestand, gates for Sounds games will open 60 minutes prior to game time (previously 90 minutes).

Tennessee Highway Patrol urges Motorists to act responsibly this Cinco de Mayo

 

State Troopers Will Be Out Statewide Conducting Saturation Efforts and Checkpoints

The Tennessee Highway PatrolNashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol will increase its highway traffic safety enforcement efforts this weekend to coincide with Cinco de Mayo celebrations. State Troopers will focus heavily saturation efforts, seat belt safety, and DUI enforcement.

One person was killed on Tennessee roadways on May 1st, 2012.

“When the temperatures begin to increase this time of year, more motorists start taking to the roadways. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will aggressively enforce our state’s seat belt and impaired driving laws to protect the public this Cinco de Mayo weekend and as we head into the summer months,” Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons said.

Appleton Harley-Davidson Open House

 

Appleton Harley-Davidson / BuellClarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 5th, Appleton Harley-Davidson held their Spring Open House. The event House was a fun fest with numerous appearances by three members of the Purffect Angelz, a dance group featured on America’s Got Talent, Full Throttle, and many other venues.

Other performances included Buck McCoy who performs in a similar manner to his idol, Tim McGraw, and RB Stone who has produced 15 albums, toured 32 countries, 5 continents selling over 40,000 albums, most of them at his shows.

During the 24-hour holiday period, Tennessee State Troopers will focus heavily on seat belt safety and DUI enforcement.

The 2012 Cinco de Mayo holiday period begins at 12:00am on Saturday, May 5th and ends that same day at 11:59pm. One person was killed on Tennessee roadways during last year’s Cinco de Mayo period.
