Washington, D.C. – Cybersecurity is one of the preeminent challenges of our time, which is why President Joe Biden has made strengthening U.S. cybersecurity capabilities a top priority and has already taken action to advance it, including with last week’s Executive Order.
The American Jobs Plan will build on that work and deliver resilient infrastructure for the American people, including a renewed electric grid. Cybersecurity is a core part of resilience and building infrastructure of the future, and the American Jobs Plan will allocate opportunities and resources to bolster cyber defenses.

Securing The Southern Border
President Biden’s disastrous border policies put the fate of women and children into the hands of traffickers and, unfortunately, the fallout has already found its way into Tennessee communities. When our border isn’t secure, every town is a border town. That’s why I am leading legislation to reinstate former President Trump’s Migrant Protection Protocols. Read more about the proposal here.
Washington, D.C. – PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Hello, folks. I want to update everyone on the ransomware cyberattack that impacted on the Colonial Pipeline over this past week.
As of yesterday evening, Colonial has begun restarting the flow of refined products in their pipeline.
This morning, Colonial reported that fuel is beginning to flow to a majority of the markets that they service, and they should be reaching full operational capacity as we speak — as I speak to you right now.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) spoke with Fox News about how her legislation will help companies like colonial pipeline respond to critical infrastructure cyber hacks.
Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn said the attack that forced the shutdown of Colonial Pipeline networks should be a wake up call to federal officials, warning that “cyber is a big part of 21st century warfare,” while proposing a number of measures to strengthen and protect U.S. critical infrastructure.
The FBI on Monday said the ransomware gang known as “Darkside” was the group responsible for the attack over the weekend that forced the shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline networks responsible for carrying gasoline from Texas to the Northeast.
Clarksville, TN – Over the weekend, the Colonial Pipeline was the victim of a cybersecurity attack and shut down the pipeline as a precaution. The Colonel Pipeline delivers around 45% of all fuel to the East Coast.
Washington, D.C. – On the week, the national gas price average jumped six cents to $2.96. If the trend continues, an increase of three more cents would make the national average the most expensive since November 2014 –the last time we saw average prices at $2.99 and higher.
AAA forecasts gas prices to climb this week in reaction to the shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline, which delivers approximately 45% of all fuel to the East Coast.
Joe Biden-Kamala Harris Administration Launches an All-of-Government Effort to Address Colonial Pipeline Incident
Washington, D.C. – The recent cyberattack targeting the Colonial Pipeline has triggered a comprehensive federal response focused on securing critical energy supply chains.
President Joe Biden is receiving regular briefings on the incident and has directed agencies across the Federal Government to bring their resources to bear to help alleviate shortages where they are occurring.
Tennessee Gas Prices Rise Three Cents
Nashville, TN – After holding steady last week, gas prices in Tennessee rose three cents, on average, over the last week. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.72 which is 3 cents more than one month ago and $1.12 more than one year ago.
“The shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline late last week will likely have implications on both gasoline supply and prices in Tennessee, and those could happen as early as this week,” said Megan Cooper, spokesperson, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “The longer the pipeline is down, the greater the threat of rising gas prices. Tennesseans may see prices increase three to seven cents this week.”
Nashville, TN – As the world advances technologically, the Tennessee National Guard’s 175th Cyber Protection Team continues to modernize and enhance its skills to protect Tennesseans from cyber threats.
Nashville’s 175th CPT is a team of cybersecurity specialists who protect and defend networks from potential adversary cyber-attacks such as malware, phishing and ransomware.
Nashville, TN – Several school districts returned to in-person instruction only to shut back down for cleaning, to do a hybrid learning schedule, or not come back to in-person instruction until after winter break.
Now, as we approach the school year’s halfway point, teachers, administrators, and families may turn lax or forget to remind students about digital hygiene.
