Clarksville, TN – April showers bring May flowers, and beginning May 1st, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center will be back in “full bloom” as it resumes its Saturday schedule.
The Museum will resume pre-COVID hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00am–5:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm and will no longer close for one hour at mid-day during the week.
Customs House Museum receives $150,000 Donation from Kiwanis Club of Clarksville for Children’s Area Remodel
Clarksville, TN – During the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center’s Grand Illumination lighting event held on October 3rd, 2020, Executive Director Frank Lott had a special announcement for those in attendance.
The Downtown Kiwanis Club of Clarksville has pledged $150,000 for the renovation of the Museum’s children’s area known as Explorers’ Landing.
Clarksville, TN – One of the state’s most photographed structures, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center in Downtown Clarksville, will soon be as photogenic after dark as it has been in the daytime.
The Museum is adding a new feature to the historic 1898 Post Office and Customs House building that proudly graces the corner of South Second Street and Commerce Street.

APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts Advisory Board seeks Nominations for 2020 Ovation Awards
Clarksville, TN – Nominations are being sought for the 2020 Ovation Awards, presented by the Advisory Board of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA, or “seek-ah”).
The Ovation Awards will take place at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 29th, 2020 in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall.

The announcement was made by Board Chair Brad Martin at the institution’s annual Director’s Brunch yesterday, (Saturday, November 2nd, 2019).
Montgomery County, TN – On Tuesday afternoon, June 4th, 2019, around 70 people came out to celebrate the groundbreaking for the Wade Bourne Nature Center at Montgomery County’s Rotary Park. Expected to open summer 2020, the nature center is named in honor of Wade Bourne because of his long-time passion and commitment to conservation and the outdoors.
Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Director of Parks Jerry Allbert, Architect Lane Lyle and Becky Bourne, widow of Wade Bourne, spoke to the crowd prior to the ceremonial groundbreaking.

Clarksville, TN – History and fantasy will collide into an evening of pure entertainment during the premiere performance of the musical drama, “An Elegant Obsession,” at 7:30pm on Friday, September 7th, 2018 in the Mabry Concert Hall.
This event will be hosted by the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA), and guests with reserved seating may attend a formal reception from 5:00pm-7:00pm at 416 College Street on the night of the premiere.
