The Roxy Regional Theatre recognizes the Civil War Sesquicentennial with the Civil War Musical

Clarksville, TN – In recognition of the Civil War Sesquicentennial, the Roxy Regional Theatre is currently staging a production of the Frank Wildhorn and Gregory Boyd musical, The Civil War. This has to be one of the best of the many shows I have seen at the Roxy Regional Theatre.

Drawing on letters, diaries, firsthand accounts, and the words of Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and Walt Whitman, the musical covers the enormous emotional landscape of the most difficult test our nation has ever endured. The Civil War musical puts a human face on the greatest tragedy of American history and passionately asks us to consider our beliefs about freedom, honor and faith.

The Roxy Regional Theatre spins a web of darkness with Dracula the Musical

The Poster for Dracula the MusicalThe Roxy Regional Theatre is currently staging their adaptation of Frank Wildhorn’s Dracula the Musical as their Halloween production. The show is loosely based on the 1897 horror novel by Bram Stoker, and is directed by Tom Thayer.

The music is the first thing to come to mind when thinking about this show. There are 27 songs that comprise the production. The actors sing each number with power and feeling. This musical is chock full of dark subject matter, and the songs contain just enough humor to keep it from being overwhelming. Stand out numbers include Whitby Bay, The Master’s Song, Man of Woman Born, and It’s over.

Drink Deep of the New Dracula Musical at the Roxy Regional Theatre

Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – At twilight you will drink deep … and by the new moon live forever! One of the most frightening novels ever written comes to life upon the stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre with the opening of Frank Wildhorn’s DRACULA: The Musical at 8:00pm on Friday, October 8th.

Following Dracula’s lust for new blood and a small band of mortal men and women who must face his overwhelming seduction and mesmeric supernatural powers, this musical eclipses all other horror stories.  Presented in the vein of the “Twilight” series and “True Blood,” the Roxy Regional Theatre’s production of DRACULA brings a modern spin to the Bram Stoker classic. «Read the rest of this article»
