Governors host Trevecca to open fall schedule

 

Austin Peay SoftballClarksville, Tn –Austin Peay State University’s softball team will host Trevecca Nazarene University, 1:00pm, Saturday at Cathi Maynard Park-Cheryl Holt Field, for a doubleheader to open its fall schedule of games.

The contests signal the start of the 35th year for the softball program and the second under head coach Kassie Stanfill, who led the Governors to a 33-22 overall record in her first season at the helm – including a 16-6 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play.

APSU Softball names Breanna Wonderly assistant coach

 

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, 24th, 2019 Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball head coach Kassie Stanfill announced Breanna Wonderly would be added to the team staff at the assistant coach.

Wonderly, a Centerview, MO, native, first crossed paths with Stanfill during her junior season at Illinois as the top pitcher for the Illini in 2016 when Stanfill was the program’s associate head coach.

Austin Peay State University student-athletes average 3.0 GPA for a record fourth straight semester

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes posted a departmental grade-point average of 3.0 or better for a program-record fourth consecutive semester finishing the Spring 2019 semester with a 3.096 mark.

A department-record 70 percent of Austin Peay’s 289 varsity student-athletes earned academic honors for the spring semester. The last eight semesters dating back to Fall 2015 have yielded eight of the top-10 semester GPA’s since tracking data began in 1993. For just the fourth time, more than 100 Govs earned a spot on the Dean’s List, with 48 posting perfect 4.0 GPA’s for the semester.

APSU Softball beats Murray State 3-2 to advance at OVC Tournament

 

APSU SoftballOxford, AL – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team had to wait out weather delays Thursday night to play and defeat Murray State 3-2. With the win, the Govs advance to Day 3 of the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Championship. The Governors dropped the morning contest to Jacksonville State, 7-2.

The Govs will now play the winner of Friday mornings 9:00am contest between Belmont and Eastern Kentucky at 11:30am.
