Series History between Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – In total, the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers have met only 13 times since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. The 49ers lead the series 8-5, although the Titans won two of the three most recent clashes.

This is the first appearance for the Titans franchise at Levi’s Stadium, which opened in 2014. The last time the Titans traveled to San Francisco was November 8th, 2009 at Candlestick Park. They escaped with a 34-27 victory, thanks in large part to scoring 24 points off four turnovers. Chris Johnson scored two touchdowns and totaled 135 yards on a then-career-high 25 carries.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (2-3) play their first of three consecutive home games this week by hosting the Cleveland Browns (0-5). Kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for noon CDT on Sunday, October 16th.

This week’s game will be televised regionally on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF NewsChannel 5. Play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy will call the action alongside analyst Adam Archuleta.

The Titans Radio Network, including Nashville flagship 104.5 The Zone, will carry the game across the Mid-South with the “Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith, analyst Frank Wycheck, gameday host Rhett Bryan and sideline reporter Jonathan Hutton.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (3-3) host the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers (4-2) this week. The late afternoon kickoff at LP Field (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for 3:05pm CDT on Sunday, October 20th.

The contest has been designated as the team’s annual “Code Blue” game. Fans are encouraged to wear Titans blue to work and school during the week, as well as to the game Sunday, and all fans in attendance at LP Field will receive Code Blue T-shirts. This is the sixth consecutive season the Titans have held a Code Blue game.

2012 Tennesse Titans Community Man of the Year is Jared Cook

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans announced today that tight end Jared Cook has been named the 2012 Titans Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner.  Cook was selected by a voting panel that consisted of his teammates, Titans staff, members of the news media and local non-profit and community executives for his dedicated community service.

Cook is now a finalist for the league-wide 2012 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award that will be awarded during Super Bowl week in New Orleans.  This prestigious NFL award has been in existence since 1970 and is the only NFL award that honors players who demonstrate outstanding balance in their lives between civic and professional responsibilities.

Tennessee Titans beat the Detroit Lions in Overtime 44-41

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans got the ball first in overtime. Starting on their own 20 yard line, the Titans took the ball down to the Detroit Lions 15 yard line in 13 plays. Rob Bironas kicked a 26 yard field goal to put the Titans on top 44-41.

After the ensuing kickoff, the Lions started on their own 22 yard line. After 8 plays, the Lions had fourth and one at the Tennessee 7. Lions coach Jim Schwartz decided to go for it instead of letting Jason Hanson kick the tying field goal. Detroit backup quarterback Shaun Hill tried a quarterback sneak up the middle that was stuffed by defensive tackles Jurrell Casey and Sen’Derrick Marks giving the Titans the win. «Read the rest of this article»

Tennessee Titans’ Keith Bulluck announces his Retirement

 

Third-leading tackler in franchise history signs contract to end career with Titans

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Linebacker Keith Bulluck announced his retirement from the NFL today as a member of the Tennessee Titans.

Bulluck, who played a total of 11 seasons with the Titans (2000­–2009) and New York Giants (2010), signed a contract with the Titans and will formally submit his retirement to the NFL tomorrow.

“Growing up as a foster kid from the age of 12 to 18 in Rockland County (N.Y.), playing football at the collegiate and professional levels was a dream I always had,” Bulluck said. “I earned opportunities to play for Syracuse University, the Tennessee Titans and my hometown New York Giants, and my upbringing allowed me to develop the focus and determination I needed to be successful at each level.
