Experience Howl-O-Ween at LBL’s Woodlands Nature Station

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Trick or treat on the “wild side” at the 22nd Annual Howl-O-Ween program, Saturday, October 22nd, from 1:00pm-4:30pm at Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Tickets go on sale at 12:00pm and cost $5.00 per person ages 5 and up, free for ages 4 and under. Nature Station admission included with purchase. First tour leaves at 1:00pm; last tour leaves at 4:00pm.

LBL’s The Homeplace 1850s Farm celebrates it’s 38th Anniversary

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – The Homeplace 1850s Working Farm and Living History Museum celebrates its 38th Anniversary, Saturday-Monday, October 8th, 9th, and 10th.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy programs demonstrating 1850 farm life, including a quilting bee, woodstove cooking, and more. General admission to the Homeplace is $5.00 ages 13 and up, $3.00 ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 and under.

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – The Land Between the Lakes Woodlands Nature Station invites families to join in the fun from 10:00am-5:00pm at the Outdoor Kids Festival Saturday and Sunday, October 8th and 9th.

Spend Columbus Day Weekend learning outdoor skills, from learning about venomous animals to practicing fishing skills, at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Nature Station admission is $5.00 ages 13 and up, $3.00 ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 and under.

Land Between the Lakes 2016-2017 Archery Deer Season going on now

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Archery deer season begins in September at Land Between the Lakes. Deer hunting information for the 2016-2017 season and specific regulations can be found at visitor facilities and online at www.landbetweenthelakes.us/seendo/outdoor-rec/hunting Hunters should also reference appropriate state regulations.

Hunters must possess a valid State Hunting License/Deer Permit, and a Hunter Safety Card according to Kentucky or Tennessee state regulations. Hunters 16 and older also need a Land Between the Lakes Hunter Use Permit, available online www.landbetweenthelakes.us/reservations

Elk Begin Bugling at Land Between the Lakes

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Hear elk bugle during mating season in September at Land Between the Lakes. The Elk & Bison Prairie is open seven days a week, from dawn to dusk, and features a 3.5-mile paved loop with interpretive stops along the drive.

Passes cost $5.00 per vehicle and can be purchased at the Elk & Bison Prairie entrance gate or at any Land Between the Lakes day-use facility.

Land Between the Lakes’ Homeplace 1850s Trades Fair set for Labor Day Weekend

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – The Homeplace 1850s Working Farm will host a Trades Fair on Saturday and Sunday, September 3rd and 4th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Traditional trades and crafts people will share knowledge of vanishing folk art skills. Admission is $5.00 ages 13 and older, $3.00 ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 and under.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam Announces Reward in Dover Murder Case

 

$5,000 offered in 1980 Stewart County kidnapping and murder of two teens

Tennessee State GovernmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam today announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the kidnapping and murder in 1980 of sisters Carla Atkins and Vickie Stout.

“We believe someone has information that could help solve this case, and we want whoever is responsible for this crime to be brought to justice,” Haslam said.  “We ask anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward.”
