Tennessee (9-4, 0-2 SEC) is coming off back-to-back losses for the first time this season, most recently dropping a 94-84 contest to Auburn on Tuesday.
 
UT has several players who can provide a spark offensively on any given night, as Lamonte Turner (25) and Grant Williams (22) both eclipsed the 20-point margin against the Tigers earlier in the week.

Tennessee Volunteers loses at #13/11 Kentucky Wildcats, 83-58

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsLexington, KY Admiral Schofield scored 17 points and Jordan Bone had 15, but Tennessee could not keep pace with Kentucky’s strong 3-point shooting early on, falling to the Wildcats, 83-58, on Wednesday at Rupp Arena.

Tennessee (14-12, 6-7 SEC) struggled from the floor, shooting just 34.6 percent on the night and 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from 3-point range. Kentucky shot 44 percent (11-of-25) from 3-point range with 10 treys in the first half.

Schofield scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half. He was 6-of-10 from the floor for the night and collected a team-high seven rebounds. Bone’s 15 points featured a pair of 3-pointers.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee heads to Lexington for a Tuesday-night showdown with No. 13 Kentucky. Tipoff at Rupp Arena is slated for 6:00pm CT on ESPN.

The Vols (14-11, 6-6 SEC) and Wildcats (20-5, 10-2 SEC) are meeting for the second time in three weeks. In the first meeting between the border rivals, UT picked up an 82-80 victory over fourth-ranked UK in Knoxville. Tennessee was led that night by 25 points from Robert Hubbs III.

Hubbs continues to lead the Vols in scoring, averaging 14.3 ppg.

Tennessee Vols upset Kentucky Wildcats 82-80 Tuesday night

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN Tennessee earned its first win over a top-5 ranked opponent since 2010 with an 82-80 victory over No. 4 Kentucky on Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena. The Volunteers last win over a top-5 team came on December 11th, 2010 when UT defeated No. 3 Pittsburgh, 83-76.

The win also marked the first over a ranked opponent this season for the Volunteers after losing their previous five against ranked foes.UT has now defeated the Wildcats in their last two visits to Knoxville after securing an 84-77 victory at TBA last year.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee faces border rival Kentucky on Tuesday night when the fourth-ranked Wildcats visit Thompson-Boling Arena for a 8:00pm CT tip. The 221st meeting between the two programs will air on ESPN.

Kentucky (17-2, 7-0 SEC) represents the sixth ranked opponent that the Vols (10-9, 3-4 SEC) have faced this season. On Tuesday, Tennessee will be seeking its first win over a ranked opponent in 2016-17 while also looking to achieve its 69th win over Kentucky in program history. Of UT’s 68 wins — which are the most against the Wildcats of any collegiate team — 22 have come against a ranked UK squad.
