Lyle “Chip” Finley during the Fort Campbell Warrior Transition Battalion assumption of command ceremony Friday morning at the former non-commissioned officer parade field that sits across from the Warrior Transition Battalion complex.

Crosland said, “Chip is a proven leader, in and out of uniform. He brings with him a unique perspective as a former MI (military intelligence) officer to our formation. I’m confident that this perspective will not only inspire but bring meaningful and impactful results.”

APSU Governors Football to sacrifice timeouts in order to wear Camo Jersey in honor Fort Campbell

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team will play Tennessee State for homecoming, 4:00pm, Saturday with just two timeouts.

The camouflaged jerseys Austin Peay chose to wear Saturday with the respective Fort Campbell unit nicknames across the upper back are in violation of NCAA Rule 1, Article 5 regarding proper numerals and lettering. For every quarter Austin Peay wears those jerseys, the Govs will be assessed a timeout.

Fort Campbell Center to treat Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) nears completion

 

Fort Campbell, KY -The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund announced today that the construction of the third in a series of nine (NICoE) Satellite Centers has reached a new milestone with a watertight roof and 90% of plumbing and electric work complete.

When finished, the center, named Intrepid Spirit, will provide the most advanced diagnosis and treatment protocols for wounded, injured and ill military heroes while creating effective programs for rehabilitation and recovery. The centers are designed to focus on injuries of the brain, most notably Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), the signature wounds of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, in our wounded military troops.

Fort Campbell Welcomes Home the last of the 4th Brigade Combat Team

 

CurraheeFort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The never ending cycling of soldiers between the battlefield to the home front and vise versa continued Wednesday evening with the return of the final flight of 105 soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Currahees) who returned up early Saturday morning.

“This deployment was scheduled to be nine months, a good portion of our brigade about 2000 soldiers returned back at the 6-7 month mark. These soldiers returning today Easy Company of the 2nd/506th Infantry Regiment of the HBO Band of Brothers fame. They were contacting a TA Uplift Mission, or a Train, Assist, and Advise Uplift Mission. Easy company was selected because they finished their mission ahead of schedule out of FOB Salerno in the Khost Province of Afghanistan.” said Major Kamil Sztalkoper, 4th Brigade Combat Team Public Affairs

Fort Campbell’s 1st Brigade Combat Team completes redeployment from Afghanistan

 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne Division1st Brigade Combat TeamFort Campbell, KY – The never ending cycling of soldiers between the battlefield to the home front and vise versa continued Wednesday evening with the return of the final flight of 259 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team (Bastogne).

For the past nine months the 1st Brigade Combat Team had been in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan as part of SFAAT Blackhorse which has been working to help prepare the Afghan National Army’s 1st Kandak, 4th brigade, 201st Corps for the upcoming transfer of authority as U. S. Forces prepare to withdraw from that country.

Fort Campbell’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team holds Change of Command

 

2nd Brigade Combat Team - StrikeFort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The 2nd Brigade Combat Teamheld a change of command ceremony On Monday July 22nd, to honor the outgoing battalion commander, Col. Daniel R. Walrath, and to recognize the incoming Commander Col. Pete Benchoff before the entire Brigade.

Colonel Benchoff has had several previous assignments at Fort Campbell including a stint in 2009 as the commander of the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, and as the Assistant Chief of Staff for 101st Airborne Division.

Mark Stammer, the acting commander of Fort Campbell, KY, while the 101st Airborne Division is deployed to Afghanistan about the Army’s Upcoming Force Reduction and Reorganization Strategy, and it’s effects on Fort Campbell.

The first article from the interview calmed community fears about the possibility of a mass loss of personnel at the Army post. In the second we will be discussing the level of importance assigned to Fort Campbell by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Department of Defense.
