This agenda includes items specific to issues in Montgomery County and the State of Tennessee that need to be addressed.

To gather as much input as possible, Montgomery County is asking employees, community organizations, and county residents to submit legislative items for consideration.

Montgomery County Commission to fill District 6 vacant seat on June 14th

Limiting public access to the meetings is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare in light of COVID-19 Coronavirus.

Montgomery County’s New Wheel Tax Increase takes effect February 1st

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Beginning February 1st, 2021 the Montgomery County Motor Vehicle Wheel Tax will increase to $74.00. On October 12th, 2020, the Montgomery County Commission passed Resolution 20-9-15, titled “Resolution to Levy a County-Wide Motor Vehicle Tax”, which proposed a wheel tax increase of $25.00.

The new fee must be paid to the Montgomery County Clerk’s Office in addition to the state motor vehicle registration fees.

Montgomery County Wheel Tax Reimbursement Program to based on Age, Income

 

Applications for the Montgomery County Wheel Tax Reimbursement Program will be Available in 2021

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The $25.00 wheel tax increase for schools that passed with a two-thirds vote by the Montgomery County Commission on October 12th, 2020 goes into effect on February 1st, 2021. An amendment to the resolution providing an exemption based on age and income was unanimously approved by the County Commission.

The exemption is for individuals who are 65-years-old or older at the time of initial registration issuance or renewal with a household income not to exceed $25,000 annually.
