Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival gets KISS’d by Mr. Speed

 

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The 13th annual Rivers and Spires Festival kicked off Thursday afternoon, April 16th in downtown Clarksville. Rain that morning had left the area, clouds parted and the sun dried up the streets. There was a cool breeze to go with the blue skys. Perfect weather for the start of the event.

Everything got started at 5:00pm with the opening of the Quilts of the Cumberland exhibit at Madison Street United Methodist Church. The winning quilts had their awards pinned next to the quilt. At 5:30pm, there was a Trunk Show with Charlie Rehea entitled “Quilting Through the Years with Jamie and Charlie.”

Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival kicks off tonight with KISS tribute band Mr. Speed

 

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival gets started tonight, Thursday, April 16th with musical entertainment for everyone. The free festival will have musicians of all genres. Tonight’s hours are from 5:00pm-10:00pm.

Driven, a local pop group, will kick things off at 5:00pm on the Strawberry Alley Stage. Driven boasts smooth harmony with high energy show.

Long considered Clarksville’s largest event, the Festival has an estimated 40,000 in attendance annually. Festival goers enjoy expertly combined dynamic music, artistic exhibits, thrilling competitions, and intriguing vendor booths.

High Hopes at Rivers and Spires Festival Opening, However Bad Weather Looms for Today

 

The Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The first day of the 2011 Rivers and Spires festival opened with simply amazing weather. Sunny and Clear with warm temperatures. Crowds gathered to enjoy the afternoon kickoff which featured musical performances by local favorites, along with other musical talents. The Festival runs through Saturday evening.

On the Public Square Stage, the Roxy Regional Theatre opened with a preview of the Civil War Musical, which promises to be an outstanding show to see at the Franklin Street Theatre. They were followed by the urban musical duo of The Bucket Boys,  who use a collection of everyday items such as trashcans, pots, pans and street signs to crash and bang out thunderous grooves, extraordinary cadences and hip-hop, funky dance beats. The amazing Mr. Speed, a KISS cover band closed out the evening with rousing concert at the Public Square stage. The group has one goal to give the fans a realistic KISS experience. In this they totally succeeded.

April Chamber of Commerce Events

 

Clarksville Area Chamber of CommerceClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce announces upcoming events during the month of April.

On Tuesday, April 5th,  the Chamber will be hosting a Women In Business event at 11:30am at the Riverview Inn, 50 College Street. Dale Thomas will serve as the Keynote Speaker. Born and raised in rural Mississippi, Dale Thomas pulls from her life history and the choices she made to teach “real life” lessons to each audience. Dale has been teaching for over 17 years and owns and operates a series of Boot Camps. They are workshops that educate and empower others to take their lives to the next level. The Boot Camps are topic specific and have gained national recognition including a documentary series on The Travel Channel entitled, “Cool Summer Camps”. She has been a special guest expert on The Dr. Phil Show, The Big Idea on CNBC, CMT, Vh1 and MTV. Dale is also the author of several books and empowerment CD’s. «Read the rest of this article»
