Nashville Predators fall to the Edmonton Oilers 4-2

 

Nashville PredatorsEdmonton Alberta, Canada – The Nashville Predators lost to the Edmonton Oilers in the second game of their brief tour of Canada tonight, 4-2. 

The Predators are chasing points in their quest to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs and desperately needed a win against their conference rivals tonight.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins put Edmonton on the board first with a quick wrist shot following the face off in their offensive zone for the early marker and the 1-0 lead.  The score was at 9:01 of the opening period.

Nashville Predators win overtime thriller over New Jersey Devils 4-3

 

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators came storming back against the New Jersey Devils to win an overtime thriller, 4-3.  Playing on the road, the Predators were hoping to bounce back from their disappointing home loss to the San Jose Sharks over the weekend.

Playing from behind most of the night, the Devils scored first at 2:58 of the first period when Damon Severson scored on a wicked slap shot that beat Nashville goalie, Juuse Saros, 1-0.  Saros is still in goal while Pekka Rinne recovers from an undisclosed injury.

Nashville Predators beat Winnipeg Jets 6-5

 

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators defeated the Winnipeg Jets in a wild one tonight at the Bell MTS Place, 6-5, with Ryan Hartman scoring the winning goal, with just one minute left in regulation. 

Hartman was acquired on Monday, from the Chicago Blackhawks, and was playing in his debut game with Nashville.

The two points came over their nearest Central Division rival, and is the start of a Canadian road trip that will include games against Edmonton and Vancouver this week.

Tennessee Titans say goodbye to kicker Rob Bironas

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans waived eight year veteran kicker Rob Bironas today. He has been with the Titans since June 21st, 2005.

Bironas is statistically one of the top 10 kickers in NFL history. He made 85.6 percent of his field goals in the first eight years of his career and became one of the top two scorers in club history.

Tennessee Titans announce the firing of head coach Mike Munchak

 

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have decided to part ways with head coach Mike Munchak. In a statement released from Titans executive, Rushton Webster, he said the following:

“First I want to thank Mike Munchak for his professionalism through this process and thank him for his years of dedication to the Titans/Oilers organization. He is first-class and I wish him and his family nothing but the best. I also want to praise Tommy Smith for his involvement during the week-long process. He was thorough and thoughtful.

Titans to host Broncos at LP Field

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – After improving their record to 2-1 with a road victory over the New York Giants, the Tennessee Titans return home this week to play the Denver Broncos (1-2). Kickoff at LP Field (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for noon CDT on Sunday, October 3rd.

The Titans and Broncos, two charter members of the AFL in 1960, have played infrequently in recent years. This week’s visit by the Broncos is only their second game in Tennessee since the Titans’ move to the state in 1997, and Jeff Fisher has faced the Broncos just three times as a head coach, fewer than any other AFC opponent.
