Las Vegas, NV – The Nashville Sounds (38-36) never recovered from a four-run inning turned in by the Las Vegas 51s Wednesday night at Cashman Field, dropping their sixth game in a row by an 8-2 final.
Vegas’ big inning came against Sounds starter Taylor Jungmann (2-4) in the 4th. A walk and a pair of singles started the frame for the 51s and gave them the 2-1 advantage. Vegas pitcher Logan Verrett (6-2) helped his own cause with an RBI groundout later in the frame, which was capped off by Omar Quintanilla’s two-run single.
Round Rock, TX – Catcher Mike Napoli smashed a walkoff three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to stake the Round Rock Express to a 9-6 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Sunday evening at The Dell Diamond in the finale of a four-game series.
It marked the third straight night that Round Rock scored the game-winning run in its final turn at the plate against Sounds pitching.
The Sounds had rallied from a two-run deficit to tie the score in the top of the ninth inning before Napoli’s blast, which came off Sounds reliever Sean Green, ended the contest.
Round Rock, TX – The Round Rock Express scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to top the Nashville Sounds, 5-3, on Friday night at The Dell Diamond in the second game of a four-game set.
Sounds starting pitcher Sam Narron pitched seven scoreless frames before getting into trouble in the eighth inning, as Round Rock batted around and scored all five runs.
Esteban German reached on a fielding error to begin the rally and moved to second on a Joey Butler single. Matt Kata then cleared the bases with a double down the left field line to bring the Express within one run at 3-2. Narron got Kevin Cash to pop out and was removed from the contest for reliever Sean Green, who issued a walk to Julio Borbon. Round Rock went ahead at 5-3 as Omar Quintanilla tripled home Kata and Borbon, followed by a Mike Napoli RBI double.
Round Rock, TX – The Nashville Sounds had their season-best five-game winning streak snapped with a 6-5 loss to the Round Rock Express on Thursday evening at The Dell Diamond in the opener of a four-game series.
The loss was the PCL-leading 22nd one-run defeat of the year for Nashville (37-43), which participated in its league-high 38th contest decided by a single run.
The Sounds continued their June power surge by belting three home runs in the contest and finished the month with 42 longballs.
Nashville, TN – Sounds second baseman Eric Farris hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Nashville Sounds a 5-4 victory over Round Rock Express on Tuesday night at Greer Stadium.
Extending his extra-base hit streak to nine straight contests, Taylor Green smoked a one-out double to left field in the 10th inning to begin the rally. After Brandon Boggs was intentionally walked, Farris singled to the right field to plate Green from second base for the winning run.
Nashville, TN – Mat Gamel went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs to power the Nashville Sounds to a 7-6 victory over the Round Rock Express on Monday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.
With the win, Nashville (28-35) snapped a three-game losing streak and notched its 11th victory in the last 16 games played at home in Music City.
Gamel’s two-homer night continued the infielder’s red-hot week at the dish. In his last five games, he is hitting .385 (10-for-26) with four home runs and 11 RBIs. It was Gamel’s third two-home game this season and the Sounds’ eighth overall. He now leads the club with 13 roundtrippers.
Nashville Finishes 0-8 On Road Trip, Returns To Greer Tomorrow Night
Round Rock, TX – The Round Rock Express completed a four-game sweep of the Nashville Sounds with a 10-2 victory on Monday afternoon at The Dell Diamond.
The loss was the eighth in a row for the Sounds (9-21), who went winless on their road trip. It marked the first time since Nashville joined the Pacific Coast League in 1998 that the Sounds have been swept in consecutive series.
The Express outscored the Sounds, 45-26, in the four-game sweep. Nashville left runners on base in seven of its innings, finishing 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position in the contest.
Teagarden Belts Three Homers, Drives In Seven To Lead Round Rock
Round Rock, TX – Catcher Taylor Teagarden belted three home runs and drove in seven RBIs to power the Round Rock Express to an 18-9 romp over the Nashville Sounds on Sunday afternoon at The Dell Diamond.
The loss was the seventh in a row for the Sounds (9-20), who fell to 3-12 in road contests this season.
Teagarden – who became the first opposing player to hit three home runs against Sounds pitching in a single game since Nashville joined the Pacific Coast League in 1998 – did all of his damage in the early part of the contest, swatting a home run in three consecutive innings from the second through the fourth. He belted a solo shot in the second before delivering three-run blasts in the third and fourth. The backstop now has five home runs and 11 RBIs on the year.
Round Rock, TX – In his first game with the Round Rock Express, Omar Quintanilla hit a game-winning two-out single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to give the Round Rock Express a 9-8 win over the Nashville Sounds on Saturday night at the Dell Diamond.
After trailing for much of the contest, Round Rock scored three runs in the eighth inning and one in the ninth to hand Nashville (9-19) its fourth consecutive last-at-bat defeat and sixth loss in row. The loss was also the club’s PCL-leading 12th one-run defeat of the year.
