Retired Brigadier General Scott Brower named Austin Peay State University inaugural military adviser in residence

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On September 1st, 2018 retired Brigadier General Scott E. Brower, former deputy commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, joined Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) senior leadership team as the institution’s first military adviser in residence.

In this new role, Brower will advise the APSU leadership team on how the University can better serve its military students and help the University optimize the process of recruiting, enrolling and graduating military-connected students.

Fort Campbell’s 101st Pathfinder Company to be deactivated on Tuesday, August 2nd

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00am. The location is subject to change in the case of inclement weather, a weather call will be made the morning of the event.

101st Airborne Division Headquarters cases colors at Fort Campbell, looks to Iraq mission

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) headquarters cased its colors February 25th before a nine-month deployment to Iraq in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.

Soldiers, family members and community leaders attended the ceremony to bid farewell to the Screaming Eagles as they prepare to train and advise the Iraqi army in its mission to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

“Today we case our colors as we deploy in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and replace the 82nd Airborne Division headquarters as the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command in Iraq,” said Maj. Gen. Gary J. Volesky, commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

Fort Campbell remembers Gander veterans 30 years later: Not forgotten

Fort Campbell, KY –  When Soldiers look back on American military history over the last century, most can recall famous wars like Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm or Operation Iraqi Freedom. Often times, the American public can forget about Soldiers who lost their lives not in battle nor in combat

On December 12th, 1985, Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, boarded Arrow Airline flight 1285 to reunite with their families for the holidays, after a six-month peacekeeping mission in the Sinai, Egypt, but never made it home.

Fort Campbell's Week of the EaglesFort Campbell, KY – The “Screaming Eagles” of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will host the 2012 Week of the Eagles, August 10th-17th, 2012, at Fort Campbell, KY, to reflect upon all that the division’s Soldiers have achieved since the unit was created with no history, but with a “Rendezvous with Destiny.”

“Week of the Eagles is a time for 101st Soldiers of the past and present to come together and reflect on the great legacy of the 101st Airborne Division,” said Maj. Gen. James C. McConville, commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

“This year is particularly significant because it coincides with the 70th anniversary of the division. We invite all Soldiers, families and friends to participate and experience Week of the Eagles 2012.”

Clarksville Police Department Captain Trades One Uniform for Another

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – One of Clarksville Police Department’s Command Staff traded in one uniform for another.

Captain James Corbett Smith, Clarksville Police Department, like many others, serve their country and community in a civilian profession and wear a dual hat as a member of the Guard or Reserve. In James Smith’s case, he serves as a  Command Sergeant Major for the Tennessee Army National Guard.
