Washington, D.C. – In response to a recent letter from U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), the NBA has revealed that despite grave human rights abuses, the league is continuing to cozy up with Communist China.
The NBA confirmed it is in active talks with officials to return to China Central Television (CCTV), the same station that regularly broadcasts Communist propaganda and forced prisoner confessions.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) along with Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) introduced the Transparency for Confucius Institutes Act.
Confucius Institutes, which are run and paid for by the CCP, currently operate at 55 American colleges and universities. They allow China to discretely influence what college students are taught about topics like Hong Kong and Tiananmen Square and impede freedom of speech on campus.

Washington, D.C. – If you tune into China Central Television (CCTV), you’ll see forced prisoner confessions, government propaganda, and the NBA. That’s right, basketball.
The NBA’s recent return to CCTV reveals the league’s continuing complacency about human rights abuses and raises tough questions for basketball fans and human rights activists alike. What did the NBA do to regain favor with China? Why would they want to support the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the first place?
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn is demanding answers from the NBA about its return to China Central Television (CCTV). Communist China banned NBA broadcasts following outspoken support within the league for the Hong Kong freedom fighters.
“Commissioner Silver cut a deal to air NBA games on the same station that regularly broadcasts Communist propaganda and forced prisoner confessions,” said Senator Blackburn. “Commissioner Silver needs to come clean — did he agree to censor players’ free speech to return to Chinese state-run airwaves?”
Washington, D.C. – Last week, I authored a letter directed to the College Board expressing concern over their partnership with the Confucius Institute. The Confucius Institute is a Chinese Communist Party project used to promote Chinese government propaganda in schools around the world.
This week, the College Board replied that they are severing ties with the Confucius Institute at the end of the year. They also stated that no foreign entity has had any influence on their curricular materials or assessments.
Washington, D.C. – “The recent and ongoing crime wave in Minneapolis has some Black community leaders calling on the Minneapolis City Council to help them do something about it,” Karen Scullin reports for Fox 9 Minneapolis.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) applauded the closure of the Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis following her efforts to increase transparency about the harm the Chinese government-run programs cause to academic freedom.
“Those studying Chinese culture and language at American schools should be alarmed that the Chinese government has infiltrated their institutions. I am pleased to share that today is the last day a Confucius Institute will call the University of Memphis home,” said Senator Blackburn
Washington, D.C. – The COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic lifted the veil separating China from the rest of the world, and exposed the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) duplicity. Undoubtedly, U.S. lawmakers and officials will find more widespread acceptance of these revelations helpful as we rethink our country’s relationship with Beijing.
The CCP’s response to the initial COVID Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan closed a bridge that the United States should have dismantled a long time ago.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Wednesday, June 10th, 2020, the Senate passed the Concerns Over Nations Funding University Campus Institutes in the United States (CONFUCIUS) Act by unanimous consent. The legislation address concerns about Confucius Institutes suppressing free speech on American college campuses. It is sponsored by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), John Kennedy (R-La.), Doug Jones (D-Ala.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).
“The Chinese Communist Party has used deceptive tactics to infiltrate our U.S. university campuses and K-12 classrooms,” said Senator Blackburn. “Those studying Chinese culture and language at Confucius Institutes should be alarmed to learn that these facilities are a part of the Communist Party propaganda.”
