Twelve APSU Athletics awarded Arthur Ashe Jr. Sport Scholar honors

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsFairfax, VA – A program-record 12 Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes have been named to the 2021 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Teams, selected by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine.

Football (Matthew Gayle, Corey Petersen, Jau’Von Young), baseball (TJ Foreman, Harley Gollert, Reid Brown) and track and field (Allana Johnson, Karlijn Schouten, Mikaela Smith) led the way for APSU with a trio of nominations each.

Carlos Paez and Alec Woodard of the men’s basketball team were also honored, as was volleyball’s Aysha Hood.

Austin Peay State University Athletics has record 168 Govs named to OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Another record in the books for Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes, with 168 Govs among an Ohio Valley Conference-record 1,625 league athletes named to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Wednesday, August 5th, 2020.

For the fifth time since 2001, the department has put more than 100 student-athletes on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The 168 student-athletes honored for 2019-20 set a department record for the third straight year.

166 APSU Student Athletes earn a spot on Spring 2020 Dean’s List

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) is proud to recognize more than 2,500 students who were named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the Spring 2020 semester.

The APSU Governors had 166 student-athletes named to the Dean’s List, which is 60 more than in the previous fall semester, despite all of the obstacles these student-athletes were faced with during the spring semester.

APSU Athletes continue success in classroom during Coronavirus pandemic

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes continued their recent string of success in the classroom, the department announcing its 297 athletes combined to post a 3.292 grade-point average during the Spring 2020 semester.

It is the sixth consecutive semester the APSU athletics department has posted a 3.0 GPA or better and the eighth time in department history. In addition, each of the 15 varsity teams recorded a 3.0 GPA for the second consecutive semester.

“I must commend all of our student-athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom,” said APSU Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison.
