American Red Cross, Nashville Predators team up for Multi-City Blood Drive

 

American Red CrossNashville, TN – The American Red Cross is continuing the partnership with the Nashville Predators Foundation to host multi-city blood drive from February 22nd to February 26th.  

All presenting donors who pre-schedule an appointment will receive a Predators foam hockey puck, while supplies last.

The event, in its seventh year, is sponsored by the Acuff Circle of Excellence board of directors and is open to members of the Circle and the public. “Celebrating the Arts” will feature representations of  APSU’s arts disciplines, this year focusing on the visual arts and music.

That was announced Tuesday at the OVC’s annual basketball media day, held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel.

Belmont BruinsCharolotte, NC – Once again taking its customary seat at the March Madness table, Belmont University men’s basketball nearly orchestrated one of the most memorable outcomes in NCAA Tournament history, taking two-time defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Virginia to the limit before dropping a 79-67 decision Friday at Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Bruins, making their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in 10 years, entered the field on the heels of dramatic, last-second victories over Eastern Kentucky and No. 25 Murray State in the OVC Tournament.

OVC’s Belmont Bruins to face Virginia Cavaliers in NCAA Basketball Tournament

Belmont BruinsNashville, TN – Belmont University men’s basketball will face national power Virginia (29-3) of the ACC Conference in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.

Belmont received a No. 15 seed and will face the second-seeded Cavaliers Friday from Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC.

Tip time, television and broadcast crew will be announced shortly.

Belmont (22-10) – making its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in 10 years – will represent the Ohio Valley Conference for the second time in three years.

Belmont Bruins Basketball beats Eastern Kentucky to advance to OVC Tournament Championship

Belmont BruinsNashville, TN – Belmont University men’s basketball sophomore Evan Bradds (Jamestown, Ohio) sank two free throws with 26 seconds remaining and used a final defensive stop to outlast Eastern Kentucky, 53-52, in the semifinal round of the 2015 OVC Basketball Championship.

The game was a rematch of the 2014 OVC Championship, which saw the Colonels claim a 79-73 victory.

Three-pointers from sophomore Taylor Barnette (Lexington, Ky.) and junior Craig Bradshaw (Ridgetop, Tenn.) sparked Belmont to an early 6-2 lead.

Montgomery County receives Four Awards from Greater Nashville Regional Council

 

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government received four awards from the Greater Nashville Regional Council at its 45th Annual Regional Planning and Economic Development Meeting on Thursday, September 13th.

The annual event held this year at Smiley Hollow in Ridgetop, TN, presented 31 awards to various counties for programs and initiatives that have exhibited excellence and innovation over that last calendar year. Montgomery County was recognized in two categories; Public Safety and Solid Waste, with three awards received by Montgomery County in the Public Safety category.
