New Recreation Opportunities at Land Between The Lakes

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Do you have cabin fever? Warmer weather is just around the corner! With the help of the public, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area has made some changes that offer a few more opportunities for outdoor recreation in 2013.

Land Between the Lakes Begins 2012 Seasonal Camping Program Process

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area is now accepting applications for the 2012 seasonal camping program.

There are a total of 113 campsites in the seasonal camping program available for two to nine months at Hillman Ferry, Piney, and Wranglers Campgrounds.  Rushing Creek, Cravens Bay, Taylor Bay, Gatlin Point, Birmingham Ferry, and Redd Hollow Campgrounds have a total of 48 short-term (one to six months) sites available. «Read the rest of this article»

4th of July Holiday Safety Tips from LBL Law Enforcement

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Forest Service Law Enforcement Officers at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area suggest making safety precautions as much of a summer tradition as fireworks on the Fourth of July. 

“Because we are coming into the busiest part of the summer, it’s a good idea to plan ahead and take extra precautions so you can safely enjoy the outdoors,” said Forest Service Law Enforcement Police Captain Duane Cameron. Storms Track Thru LBL Overnight Leaving More Damage

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Severe storms moved across Land Between The Lakes once again last night.  As a result of the strong winds and pelting rain and hail, Forest Service staff members are assessing widespread damage to roads, campgrounds, and facilities.

While most backcountry areas and campgrounds remain open, Redd Hollow Backcountry Area and Rushing Creek Campground will not be open for Memorial Day Weekend, due to extensive storm damage.  «Read the rest of this article»

Severe Thunderstorms Overnight Impact Land Between Lakes

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Extreme rainfall and high winds overnight damaged several locations at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation. Swift & Staley maintenance crews have been working thru the night to clear roads of downed trees and other debris.

Visitors should use extreme caution on all roads in LBL due to possible flooding and debris from this storm.
