Montgomery County Highway Department reports Roads Closed Due to High Waters

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Highway Department has advised that the following roads are closed due to high water and flooding: River Bottoms in the Lock B South area; Lock B Road South; Southside Road; Shelton Ferry Road and C B Road; Lylewood Road at the Stewart County line, and Levi Road.

“For everyone’s safety, we ask that residents avoid these roads and any other areas which look treacherous due to standing water. Remember, Turn Around Don’t Drown,” warned Emergency Management Agency Director Ed Baggett.

Try shotgun shooting sports with Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program on September 28th

 

Tennessee Wildlife FederationNashville, TN – Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program invites 4th through 12th graders from all corners of the state to come explore the shotgun shooting sports and try hitting a few targets on their own. 

The free Recruitment Day is on September 28th from 10:00am to 2:00pm (local time) and will introduce youth to teams in their area. To find a location near you visit tnwf.org/explore.

“We’re always excited to welcome and introduce new athletes to the sport. Whether you’ve handled a firearm before or not, Recruitment Day is a safe and fun way to try the sport for the first time,” said Andrew Peercy, Tennessee SCTP manager.

City of Clarksville braces for Flooding

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Several Clarksville roads and park areas remained closed Saturday because of rising water, and the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, Clarksville Street Department and Clarksville Police continued to monitor parks, roads and travel conditions as more rain was forecast.

The National Weather Service issued flood warnings Saturday for the Cumberland River at Clarksville and the Red River at Port Royal, saying potentially life-threatening flooding will be possible.

Several Clarksville area parks remain closed as officials monitor roads.

These roads are: CB Road, Southside Road at the bottoms, Shelton Ferry Road at the bottoms, Lock B South at the bottoms, Lock B North at the bottoms, Powers Place at the low water crossing, Lylewood Road at County line, Port Royal Lane, Kirkwood Road at Lock C bottoms, Levi Road, Chapel Hill Road at the bridge over Hurricane Creek, Acuff Road off Dunbar Cave Road, Gholson Road at the bottoms and Hematite Road.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School Bus Catches Fire, 20 Students on Board Safe

 

Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)Montgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County School Bus 01-104 caught fire on Southside Road early Thursday morning, November 2nd, 2017, as it was stopping to pick up students who attend Montgomery Central Middle School and Montgomery Central High School.

No students were injured during the incident.

TWRA to hold “Shoot for the Soldiers” at Montgomery County Shooting Complex August 29th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agenty’s “Shoot for the Soldiers,” a sporting clays event, will be held Saturday, August 29th at the Montgomery County Shooting Complex.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to Tennessee soldiers and their families or to the Moment of Freedom campaign.
