Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security announces decrease in Driver Service Center average wait time for first six months of 2013

 

Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland SecurityNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has announced that the average wait time at state driver services centers has decreased so far this year compared to 2012.

The average wait time from January 1st – June 30th at centers statewide, excluding reinstatement centers, fell from 34 minutes in 2012 to 31.5 minutes in 2013. There was a slight increase, however, from the first quarter of 2013 in which the average wait time was 30.5 minutes compared to the second quarter when the wait time averaged 32 minutes. «Read the rest of this article»

Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security speeds up Driver License Renewals with iPad Technology

 

Tennessee Department of SafetyNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security is using Apple iPad technology in its state driver service centers to help improve wait times for customers who need to renew or replace driver licenses.

The department has installed 72 iPad kiosks, called ASSETS (automatic self-service electronic terminals), inside 26 driver service centers across Tennessee, primarily located in the state’s urban areas. Customers who visit specified driver service centers to simply renew or replace a lost driver license may use a special application installed on the iPads to quickly complete and pay for the transaction using a credit or debit card.

Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security issues more than 6,300 Photo IDs for Voting purposes since July 1st

 

Department Reminds Citizens That Certain Driver Service Centers Will Be Open On First Saturday Of December For Voter ID Issuance Only

Tennessee Department of SafetyNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security announced Monday that during the month of November it had more than doubled the number of photo identifications issued for voting purposes since the end of October.

As of November 28th, the department had issued 6,566 photo IDs for voting purposes, compared to the 2,385 issued as of October 31st. A new state law will require a federal or state-issued photo ID to vote starting in 2012. The law also requires the Department of Safety and Homeland Security to issue photo IDs for voting purposes at no charge. «Read the rest of this article»

Department of Safety and Homeland Security Issues More than 600 Voter Photo IDs During Special Saturday Hours

 

Tennessee Department of SafetyNashville, TN – The Department of Safety and Homeland Security issued 663 photo IDs during special Saturday hours of operation at 19 state driver service centers on November 5th. The department issued photo IDs to voters at no charge and converted non-photo driver licenses into photo driver licenses for voters at no charge.

Driver service centers in 15 counties were open on the first Saturday of November and will be open on the first Saturday of each month through March 2012 for voter photo ID issuance. The centers will operate during normal business hours, from 8:30am – 5:00pm for voter photo IDs only. No other business will be conducted in the centers on Saturdays.

TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security Announces New Driver Service Center Business Hours

 

New Hours Effective August 15th, 2011

Tennessee Department of SafetyNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security today announced the implementation of new business hours for its 49 Driver Service Centers across the state. Effective Monday, August 15th, all Driver Service Centers will operate during the hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm. Monday through Friday.
