Ron Morton continues tradition of transformational giving at Austin Peay State University

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For years, Ron Morton has been one of the most benevolent donors in the sphere of Austin Peay State University (APSU).

A 1970 graduate of Austin Peay State University and cross-country student-athlete, Morton’s generosity began in earnest in 2012 when he endowed the Ronald L. Morton Scholarship Fund benefiting business majors in Austin Peay State University’s Olympic sports.

To date, more than 20 Morton Scholarship endowments have been awarded by Ron and his wife Andrea to aid APSU student-athletes, directly impacting sports with fewer available athletic scholarships.

APSU student newspaper The All State earns two national awards for “Rebuild, Reflect”

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The All State student newspaper at Austin Peay State University (APSU) recently earned two national Apple Awards at the Spring National College Media Convention hosted in New York City in March.

Both awards honored a special edition called “Rebuild, Reflect” commemorating the 20-year anniversary of the tornado that hit APSU and Downtown Clarksville.

Austin Peay State University - APSU  Clarksville, TN – The All State student newspaper at Austin Peay State University (APSU) earned five regional awards at the Southeast Journalism Conference’s Best of the South Awards held at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, February 14th-16th.

Students and advisers from colleges and universities across the southeast attended the regional conference.

APSU Governors Red Coat Society to induct Joe Maynard, Cathi Maynard, Ron Morton

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The Governors Club, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics booster club, has announced that Joe and Cathi Maynard and Ron Morton will be inducted into the Governors Club Red Coat Society.

Joe and Cathi Maynard will be recognized at halftime of the men’s basketball game against UT Martin that evening. Ron Morton will be recognized at a later date.

Joe and Cathi Maynard are recent members of the Austin Peay family, but they have quickly become two of the Governors biggest supporters.

Austin Peay State University graduate student Celeste Malone lands highly competitive Twitter editorial internship

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Since 2009, Celeste Malone has been an active Twitter user. From watching live broadcasts to simply tweeting, there is always something for her to explore.

This summer, the APSU Communication graduate student will be using her Twitter and news reporting skills for Periscope — Twitter subsidiary — as an editorial intern in San Francisco, California. She was selected out of 65,000 applications for the position.
