Austin Peay State University Football to scrimmage Saturday afternoon at Clarksville Academy

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – With new Governors Stadium completion still days away, Austin Peay State University’s football team will scrimmage for the first time, 3:00pm, Saturday, at the Clarksville Academy Sports Complex.

The 70-play-plus scrimmage will culminate the Governors first two practice weeks, including a week-plus of contact work. Clarksville Academy Sports Complex is located on Highway 48/13.

Clarksville Academy’s Jacob Rugen signs with Millsaps College

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Academy, along with head football coach Todd Hood, announce the signing of Jacob Rugen to a football scholarship to Millsaps College in Jackson Mississippi.

Rugen scored 37 touchdowns and 3692 total yards in his two year football career at the Academy.

Clarksville Academy Football Falls to Nashville Christian

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – For the past two seasons Coach Todd Hood’s Clarksville Academy Cougars have ruled District 10-A.  Friday night at Simpson Field, Nashville Christian took over the reign of the District with a convincing 38-14 win.

In the first half the Academy stood toe to toe with the number 4 ranked team in the state of Tennessee in class A.  Both offenses were slow to get moving in the first quarter.

Wise Extra Point Block in Overtime gives Clarksville Academy Cougars Win over Cheatham County

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – With Cheatham County’s first possession in overtime, senior running back Desmond Sweatt scored from 7 yards out to give the Cubs a six point lead. Willie Pressley lined up to attempt the extra point to extend the lead to seven, but the Academy’s Connor Wise broke free from the left side of the line, leaped, and blocked the kick to keep the lead at six

The block allowed Clarksville Academy the opportunity to score a touchdown on their possession in overtime and have a chance to win the game with an extra point of their own. After a 3rd down illegal procedure call on the Academy moved the ball back to the 14, Michael Conn found Connor Thomas on a slant route over the middle for a touchdown.

Blake had 4 punts for an average of 47 yards per kick while pinning Nashville Christian inside their own 5 yard line on 3 of the 4 kicks. Clarksville Academy beat Montgomery Central 47-7 Saturday afternoon

 

2012 Clarksville Academy vs  Montgomery Central Cunningham, TN – Clarksville Academy Cougars beat the Montgomery Central Indians 47-7 Saturday afternoon at Montgomery Central’s Phillip J. Horsey Field in the “Battle of the River” game.

“We worked very hard in the off season. We’ve very proud of our effort. Kids executed real well,” state Clarksville Academy head coach Todd Hood. “To lose so many kids from last year’s team. We lost 9 on offense, about 6 on defense and some out of state players. So to come back and play like this on our first game, I’m very proud of our effort.”

Clarksville Academy announces New Football Staff

 

Clarksville AcademyClarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school is excited to announce Brett Bauer as Wide Receivers Coach and Chris Southerland as Defensive Back Coach and Special Teams Coordinator for Clarksville Academy’s Football program.

Bauer will also take over as School wide Strength and Conditioning Coach. Clarksville Academy Adds Football Staff

 

The Clarksville AcademyClarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school is excited to announce Jim Snider as the Defensive Coordinator for Clarksville Academy’s Football program.  Head football coach Todd Hood, announced Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011 that Jim Snider would join the Clarksville Academy family as Defensive Coordinator. Snider joins CA after enjoying great success as Clarksville High School’s Head Football Coach. 

Snider grew up in East Tennessee and enjoyed success as a player on the Farragut high school football team. He went on to play at Carson-Newman College in East Tennessee.  While there he served as a student coach when Carson-Newman took home the NAIA National Division 1 Championship in 1983.  «Read the rest of this article»
