Five Young Clarkville Dancers Chosen to Perform in Nashville Ballet’s Nashville’s Nutcracker

 

Nashville BalletNashville, TN – Nashville Ballet has selected five dancers from Clarksville to perform in the youth cast for Nashville’s Nutcracker: Celebrating 10 Years! December 2nd-23rd, 2017, at TPAC’s Jackson Hall.

This year’s youth cast marks the organization’s largest to date, with 296 dancers from School of Nashville Ballet and the community at large performing alongside Nashville Ballet and the Nashville Symphony in the local holiday favorite.

Tennessee State Museum presents “I Have a Voice: Tennessee’s African American Musical Heritage” through June 24th, 2016

 

Tennessee State MuseumNashville, TN – The Tennessee State Museum and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) have collaborated to present museum visitors and theater audiences with an exhibition that gives a snapshot of Tennessee’s rich African American musical heritage.

The exhibition, I Have a Voice: Tennessee’s African American Musical Heritage, is free to the public and on view in the G Level Gallery in the lobby that connects the Tennessee State Museum and TPAC in the Polk Cultural Center.

Twenty-two local buildings will be lighting up red as part of the 12th annual National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 6th, as part of the biggest Go Red celebration ever in Middle Tennessee. This icon day of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement is the day when everyone Goes Red across the nation to support women’s fight against heart disease, their No. 1 killer.

Robertson County Players to present Annie Get Your Gun in Springfield, TN

 

Robertson County PlayersSpringfield, TN– In conjunction with the 100th Anniversary of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show’s 1912 appearance in Nashville, The Robertson County Players present Irving Berlin’s “Annie Get Your Gun.” The show features a cast of over 60 actors, singers and dancers plus a full orchestra, this is an event that shouldn’t be missed. It’s not often you’ll get a chance to see a full-scale musical extravaganza that will rival anything at TPAC or for that matter Broadway itself.

Elaborate backdrops set the stage for this weekend’s show.

World Renowned “Genius” Artist Meredith Monk Coming to APSU

 

Clarksville, TN – Last week, most major news outlets spent a few minutes highlighting the winners of the 2010 MacArthur Foundation Genius Awards. The recipients were individuals who, according to the Foundation, “have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits.”

The MacArthur Fellows, as the winners are known, are rewarded with $500,000, which is considered an investment on their future accomplishments. They have gone on to become some of the country’s top artists and creative talents.
