Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park to show Beauty and the Beast” June 8th

 

Clarksville’s Heritage Park will host free Movie Screening, Vendors, and Fun.

Clarksville's Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s free outdoor movie series Movies in the Park to be held this Saturday, June 8th, 2019 with the showing of “Beauty and the Beast” at Heritage Park located at 1241 Peachers Mill Road.

Pre-show activities, coordinated by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation, will begin at 6:30pm and include a demonstration using liquid nitrogen by Austin Peay State University’s College of STEM.

Clarksville Police Department brings Christmas Cheer to 120 local kids

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 14th, 2013, at 8:00am, the Clarksville Police Union and FOP’s, “Shop with a Cop” was a great success. Officers took over 120 local children, from all over Montgomery County, shopping. Each child spent $100.00 on clothes and toys.

The children were nominated by 18 Montgomery County Elementary school guidance counselors, Clarksville Police Department employees, and Montgomery County citizens. Every effort was made to find children in need, and make sure they received gifts for Christmas.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Acting Commissioner Burns Phillips announced that the 108th General Assembly passed legislation that continues the funding of unemployment benefits for spouses of military personnel who leave their jobs to transfer to a new assignment.

Funding for the program for the current fiscal year was nearly exhausted, prompting the legislative action.

“We’re pleased the General Assembly approved appropriation for this benefit to trailing spouses for the remainder of this fiscal year as well as for the fiscal year beginning July 1st, 2013,” said Phillips. “This action shows support of our military families and we hope lessens the stress that goes with active duty transfers.” «Read the rest of this article»

Salvation Army announces its “Adopt an Angel” holiday gift giving Tree

 

Clarksville TN – The Salvation Army announces it’s Adopt an Angel Tree program to make a child happy this Holiday Season, beginning Friday November 9th.

The annual holiday gift giving program, for families less fortunate, allows you to select a paper Angel at any one of the area “Angel Trees” then buy clothes, toys or a gift for that child. Unity Day last Weekend United the City of Clarksville for At Least One Day

 

Clarksville Unity DayClarksville, TN – On Saturday Hilldale Baptist Church played host to third annual Unity Day celebration. The goal of Unity Day is to build a stronger community by recognizing and joining together religious, governmental and business leaders in fellowship.

Unity Day was founded by Treva Gordon, the owner and publisher of the Convenient Shopper Magazine. “I was watching an awards show on television and I was so inspired by the way they honored the pop star’s and the rap artists. It was wonderful; they had the gift bags, bling bling, the limos, and everything that went with it. That was awesome!” she said to herself.
