Wright’s Free Throw Advances Northwest Vikings past West Creek Coyotes, 53-52, in District Tournament

 

Northwest High School VikingsClarksville, TN – The first round District 10-AAA tournament game between the #1 Northwest Vikings (17-10) and the #8 West Creek Coyotes (4-24) at Northwest High School Friday night came very close to being an upset. However, some last second defense and a clutch free throw made by Northwest senior center Marice Wright kept that from happening.

With five seconds left in the game, Wright made a free throw to give the Vikings the 53-52 win over the Coyotes and advance to the semifinals of the District 10-AAA tournament.

High School Basketball Recap for Clarksville - Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – The tight race in District 10-AAA high school boys basketball came to an end last Friday. A new regular season champion was crowned and the runner up was part of a three-way tie. Although one race is done, the District 10-AAA Tournament will be another one decided by a photo finish.

Since 2015 began, the Northwest Vikings (16-10) have won 7-of-10 games. It was enough for them to become this season’s District 10-AAA regular season champion. After defeating the Henry County Patriots for the second time this season last Tuesday, the Vikings finished the season with a 65-71 loss to the Springfield Yellow Jackets.

Only two district games remain before the district tournament, which means only two chances left to grab the regular season championship and the number one seed.

After last weeks games, there is a new team sitting at the top. However, the hold of the top spot is tenuous at best with five teams still within two games of each other.

High School Basketball Recap for Clarksville - Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – Half of the District 10-AAA high school boys basketball teams have a legitimate shot at this season’s regular season title with only four district games remaining. Several teams got crucial wins last week to keep them in title contention.

Only two games separate six of the eight teams and four of the teams are tied for the top two spots in the district, separated by only one game. All the teams are sprinting toward the finish line. It will come down to a photo finish to determine the regular season champion.

High School Basketball Recap for Clarksville - Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – Local high school basketball teams passed the midway point of their season at the beginning of the new year with a chance to improve in the second half. Some of the boys basketball teams have taken advantage of the opportunity and some have lost the momentum they gained in the first half of the season.

With three weeks left in the regular season, the competition in District 10-AAA is both heated and fluid. Only two games separate the top six teams, all of whom are at least .500 in district play. Currently, two teams are tied at the top of the rankings. In short, with six games left for most of the teams, the regular season championship is up for grabs.

Rossview Hawks Cruise Past West Creek Coyotes, 49-40, For Second Straight District Win

 

Rossview High School HawksServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Since the holiday break, the Rossview Hawks (10-6, 2-5) have been soaring. Tuesday night their flight continued over the West Creek Coyotes at West Creek High School. The Hawks earned their second district win over the Coyotes, 49-40.

A strong Hawks defense added to miscues and poor offensive execution in the second and third quarters for the Coyotes. They scored just 10 points in the two quarters after scoring 10 points in the first quarter. This was only the third time this season they were held to 40 or less points.

Arlington Tigers Topple Clarksville High Wildcats to Win Slamfest 2014

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – The Clarksville High School Wildcats welcomed wrestlers from 13 other schools to William Workman Gymnasium Saturday for Slamfest 2014. Then, the Wildcats did their best to beat them all by earning a top spot in their pool in the morning and advancing all the way to the championship match at the end of the day.

However, the Wildcats were not the big cats that clawed their way into becoming the Slamfest 2014 champions. When the dust settled on the mats at the end of the day it was the Arlington Tigers who roared in victory. The Arlington Tigers defeated the Clarksville High Wildcats 40-28 in the Slamfest 2014 championship match.

Slamfest 2014 Midday Recap: Cookeville Cavs Still Have Chance To Repeat

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – At 9:00am Saturday morning, wrestling squads from 14 different schools converged at William Workman Gymnasium in Clarksville High School for the 2014 Slamfest. In addition to the Wildcats, the Rossview Hawks, Mt. Juliet Bears and last years Slamfest winners, the Cookeville Cavaliers were among the teams participating in the event this year.

As usual, the first half of the day consisted of all the teams competing in pools. The top three finishers in each pool advance to the elimination rounds in the second half of the day, leaving only 12 teams.
