AAA says Pump Prices Fluctuate as Demand Declines, Crude Oil Prices Climb

 

AAAWashington, D.C. – After ten days of stability, the national gas price average increased a penny over the weekend to $3.05. On the week, the majority of states’ (26) gas price averages either increased by one cent or saw no movement.

Only two states saw prices increase a nickel or more. Prices are poised to fluctuate in the coming week, especially in light of a recent drop in demand.

AAA reports National Gas Price Average remains Steady for Five Days

 

AAAWashington, D.C. – After weeks of seeing almost daily increases, the national gas price average is showing signs of stability, holding steady at $2.88 for the last 5 days.

Still, today’s average is the highest price since May 2019 and is more expensive on the week (+2 cents), month (+25 cents), and year (+74 cents).

AAA says Americans Paying 14% More at the Pump Compared to February

 

AAAWashington, D.C. – Following last month’s winter storm in Texas, the national gas price average has jumped nearly 40 cents to $2.86.

Prices will continue to increase this week, especially following the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest weekly reports showing the second week of a major decline in gasoline stocks and a substantial increase in U.S. demand.

AAA reports Crude, Gas Prices Continue to Climb Higher as Stocks Tighten

 

AAAWashington, D.C. – With a nickel increase on the week, the national gas price average has reached $2.77, which is a 31-cent jump in the last month. Every state average has climbed by double-digits since February resulting in 1 in 10 gas stations with pump prices that are $3.00/gallon or more.

Pump prices are increasing as refinery utilization is at an all-time low and crude oil prices (WTI) surged by more than $2.00/bbl to $66.00/bbl on Friday, the highest price in nearly two years.

General Motors recalls nearly 700,000 vehicles because Passenger Frontal Air Bag Inflator May Explode

 

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - NHTSAWashington, D.C. – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2013 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500/3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra 2500/3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles.

An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

AAA reports National Gas Price Average has held steady for 12 Days

 

AAAWashington, D.C. – The new year has started, but the national gas price average remains unchanged, holding steady at $2.25 for the last 12 days.

Pump price stability at the start of the year is credited to consistent crude oil prices in late December, about $47.00-48.00/bbl, combined with low demand. U.S. gasoline demand, as recorded by the Energy Information Administration (EIA), was at the lowest level for the last week of December in 23 years (since 1998) – at 8.1 million b/d.

AAA says Crude Oil Prices Hit Highest Price Point in Nine Months

 

AAAWashington, D.C. –  AAA reports that pump prices increased on the week despite U.S. gasoline demand falling below 8 million b/d, the lowest weekly reading since June and the softest demand reading for the week of Thanksgiving since 1997.

At $2.16, the national gas price average is more expensive on the week (+4 cents) and the month (+5 cents), but cheaper (-42 cents) compared to last year at this time.

Former FBI Fugitive Lohman Mays Back In Tennessee

 

Tennessee Department of CorrectionHenning, TN – He was once named one of the FBI’s “10 Most Wanted Fugitives.”  Now, the Tennessee Department of Corrections reports former prison escapee is back in Tennessee to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Lohman Ray Mays, Jr, an habitual offender who escaped from the Turney Center Industrial Prison 36 years ago, was recaptured in Wyoming in 1985 and has since been serving a federal sentence for bank robbery.

AAA reports National Average Decreases as Gas Demand Remains Low

 

AAATampa, FL – As COVID-19 Coronavirus case numbers surpass 4 million, demand for gasoline is weakening across the country. The latest Energy Information Administration (EIA) demand reading measures at 8.5 million b/d, which is about 11% less than a year ago.

The lower demand contributed to a cheaper national average on the week – down one penny to $2.18. This is the first time since late April that the national average has declined.
