Clarksville Police reports Two drivers in the Hospital after Alcohol related Crash

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – An early morning alcohol related crash sent two to the hospital and resulted in both vehicles leaving the roadway and careening down separate embankments.

On May 24th, 2012, around 2:00am, a Mazda Miata traveling south on the 41-A Bypass near Queens Bluff Way, driven by a 37 year old woman, crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Ford Mustang, driven by a 44 year old male.

When the cars collided, the Mazda started to rotate for at least six times and left the paved surface down an embankment off the north side of the roadway. The unrestrained driver of the Mazda was ejected from the vehicle and landed on an embankment off the south side of the roadway.

In the meantime, the Ford, whose driver was also unrestrained, crossed the southbound lane of the travel, left the roadway, and went down an embankment off the south side of the road.

The 37 year old woman was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt with head injuries and is in stable condition.  The 44 year old male was taken to Gateway by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was a factor in the crash and charges are pending for both drivers. Names will be released after family notification.

Ironically, the drivers both knew each other.
