Lady Govs sweep Tennessee Tech

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team recorded its third consecutive 20-win campaign, downing Tennessee Tech in three sets, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Dunn Center.

Austin Peay (20-6, 11-4 OVC) dominated the first two sets, taking the lead for good at 6-5 in the first set and leading the second set wire-to-wire. The Lady Govs offense was impressive in both sets, recording 14 kills in the opener before recording 16 kills and a .438 attack percentage in the second set.

Tennessee Tech (6-18, 4-9 OVC) challenged Austin Peay in the third set, the two teams trading the lead six times and battling through 14 ties. The Lady Govs only gained control in the final four points, getting a point on a TTU attack error and scoring points courtesy kills by seniors Sarah Alisaleh and Taylor Skinner.

The 20-win season is the Lady Govs third straight, all under different head coaches. Austin Peay also solidified possession of second place in the OVC standings as third-place Eastern Kentucky lost to Southeast Missouri. The Lady Govs hold a two-match lead over Eastern Kentucky with three matches remaining.

Jessica MollmannSenior Jessica Mollmann had another impressive outing, recording 10 kills, a .421 attack percentage, two service aces and five blocks. It was her third consecutive outing with more than 10 kills. Sophomore Nikki Doyle added 10 kills.

Austin Peay needed just 43 kills in the victory, finishing with a .269 attack percentage. The Lady Govs added six services aces and 9.5 blocks.

Leah Meffert led Tennessee Tech with 11 kills and 10 digs. Tennessee Tech recorded 34 kills but was limited to a .168 attack percentage.

Austin Peay begins its final road weekend of the regular season with a 7:00pm, Saturday, contest at Eastern Illinois.
