Clarksville, TN – On February 2nd, 2013, Clarksville Police received a tip that a Lenzo Grooms, 63 had created a shrine inside of his residence, dedicated to a nine year old female who had visited the residence several times.
Detective Tina Slaven’s investigation uncovered a bizarre and disturbing story. Grooms had a photography business “Have Brush Will Travel” in which he offered a contract to take photographs of neighborhood female children for $20.00.
Between October 2012 and January 2013, a nine year old female had been brought to the 215 Oak Street residence, by a trusted family friend, on several occasions to have photographs taken. The nine year old had been given money and gifts for the pictures to be taken.
It was also discovered during the investigation that Grooms had set up a bedroom for the visiting nine year old to stay in. During one of the visits, Grooms had entered the bedroom and had inappropriately touched the child and, at one point, had rubbed baby lotion on the child’s buttocks.
After the child returned home, the nine year old’s mother noticed a change in the child’s mood and queried the child. The child told her mother what had happened at Grooms’ house, at which time, the child was no longer allowed to go with the family friend to the residence.
On February 2nd, 2013, Grooms showed up at the residence where the child had previously lived, but had moved. He was told by the property owner that he was not wanted on the property.
But, that did not dissuade Grooms from coming to the residence. He appeared at the residence several days in a row. He started threatening the occupants of the residence, stating that “if she did not deliver certain items to the nine year old female he would end her life”.
Due to Lenzo’s previous criminal history, to include 2nd Degree Murder and Robbery, the Tactical Unit was called to serve the warrants on Grooms at his residence around 5:30am this morning.
