Hattiesburg, MS – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team got off to a slow start and could never recover as the Lady Govs finished 11th at the Lady Eagle Invitational, played at Hattiesburg Country Club.

Memphis and host Southern Mississippi tied for first at 18-over par 306, with the hosts winning event in a playoff. Troy was third at 311 in the 16-team event.
Freshman Jessica Cathey continues to be APSU’s leader, shooting a 6-over 78, tying her for 12th place, just one shot out of a Top 10 finish. After playing the front nine at 6-over, Cathey played the back at even par, including two birdies.
But no other Lady Gov cracked 80. Sophomore Meghan Mueller shot an 82, tying for 36th place. Mueller was one of the few Lady Govs to perform well on the front side at just 3-over. However, it was holes 10-13 that cost the Columbia, Mo., native as a trio of bogeys and a double led to her undoing.
Junior Rachel Deaton finished with an 87 while senior Tabitha Beard was at 88. Junior Tala Mumford’s 95 was APSU non-counting score.
Individually, Holly Batey fired an 81 while fellow senior Lauren Bond ended with an 88.
