Instant Peay Play: APSU Golf Teams host home events over the next two weeks

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s and women’s golf teams will get the chance to host their lone home tournaments of the year over the next couple weeks as the Governors host the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.

The women’s golf team will be hosting their 54-hole event today and tomorrow, September 30th and October 1st, with 8:00am, starts each day at the Clarksville Country Club, while the men’s 54-hole tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday, October 14th-15th at GreyStone Golf Club, in Dickson, TN.

Head coach Robbie Wilson will take his top-five to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for the 2019 Sam Hall Intercollegiate, while a select trio also will compete closer to home as individuals.

Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan –  The U.S. Army combat patching ceremony is a 100-year tradition, which began in 1918. The combat patch, or Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service, represents a soldier’s participation in an overseas deployment to a hostile environment.

“The combat patch that you don today represents the brother and sisterhood, the lifelong commitment, the service, and the sacrifices of all Screaming Eagles past and present,” said Col. Stanley Sliwinski, commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade, as he presided over the ceremony.

The brigade command team, consisting of Col. Stanley Sliwinski, commander of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade and Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony B. McAdoo, senior enlisted leader for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade, along with the rest of their formation and the soldiers of the 495th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of the Montana National Guard, participate in the time-honored tradition of their brigade patching ceremony, July 11, 2018, in Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – After opening up the regular season at home for the first time since 2010, Austin Peay State University will step away from Governors Stadium for the first time this season when the Govs journey south to the Gulf Coast for a match-up with FBS foe Southern Miss, 2:30pm, Saturday, from M.M. Roberts Stadium.

The contest will be aired on the American Sports Network, locally on WUXP (MyTV30).

APSU Governors Football falters in second half in 28-7 loss to Mercer Bears

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University football team had opportunities in its season-opening loss to Mercer, but was unable to capitalize and found itself on the wrong side of a 28-7 result.

The Govs caught an early break when Damien Whitfield forced a fumble inside their own 40, which Demarion Allen fell on for the Govs.
