Clarksville, TN – With the recent tragedies and damages associated with tornados in Oklahoma, a group of Clarksvillians have come together to provide aid to the victims. This group has coined their effort “Operation Boomer Sooner”.
The group is volunteering to take multiple trailer loads of much needed supplies to the Moore, Oklahoma area. This group is in contact with people on the ground in Moore and will put out a working donation list as it develops.
Operation Boomer Sooner will be a two part operation. On June, 7th, 2013 the Boomer Sooner crew will be in the parking lot of the Old Jostens Building, 1312 Highway 48/13, receiving donations from 8:00am to 6:00pm. This phase of the operation has been labeled “Load the Wagons”. Boomer Sooner asks that all donations be packaged in a box and ready to load if at all possible. On June 8th, 2013, “the wagons” will pull out of Clarksville at approximately 3:00am headed west. They will drop the donations off at a designated point and return to Clarksville on the 9th.
It is our hope that we will be overwhelmed with donations and others will volunteer to take a truck and enclosed trailer to join the wagons as they make their journey. As a state known for its volunteer traditions and as a community well aware of the effects of a destructive tornado, we want the community of Moore to know that Clarksville, Tennessee is here for them!
The entire Boomer Sooner group will be reaching out to local businesses and individuals in the coming days for donated items. We hope that you and your family will join this effort!!
The “Boomer Sooner’s” would like to thank Beach Oil Company for assistance with fuel cards, Mann Smith Cummings Insurance for providing coverage for the wagon loading site as well as the Industrial Development Board and Montgomery County for their use of the loading site.
