Land Between The Lakes to hold Fort Henry Anniversary Program, February 8th, 2014

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – In February of 1862, “Between the Rivers” was bracing for war. Confederate forces occupied Fort Henry with Federal forces moving up the Tennessee River. Visit Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area to get outdoors and learn more about the American Civil War.

The popular Fort Henry Anniversary Program will take place on Saturday, February 8th from 1:00pm-2:30pm at The Homeplace.

Come learn about Fort Henry’s construction, battle, and legacy 152 years later with invited historian, Susan “Ski” Witzofsky.

Following the program, gather at Forth Henry Trail parking area for a guided walk from 3:00pm-4:00pm. Relive the siege with the historian guiding the way.

Interpretive Center and gift shop will be open for this program; Farm site will be closed. Doors open at 12:30pm. Registration and full deposit required: $5.00/adults and $3.00/children. Call 270.924.2020 to reserve your space.

Come Outside and Play at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, managed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. Land Between The Lakes provides outdoor recreation, lake access, and environmental education for the public to enjoy.
