Grease is the word at the Roxy Regional Theatre, Tonight through August 16th

Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Grease is the word, or so goes the story at the Roxy Regional Theatre starting tonight! Take a trip back in time to 1959 with Danny Zucko (Christopher Herr), Sandy Dumbrowski (Ashley Harris), and the rest of the Rydell High School crew as they learn about life and love during their senior year. The Roxy production will run July 11th-August 16th.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve seen the movie or not, you will love this production at the Roxy Regional Theatre, as this is a great show that can totally stand on its own.

Christopher Herr makes a very credible Danny Zucko, though he may need just a little more grease in his hair, Ashley Harris with her clean-cut and innocent looks totally nails Sandy Dumbrowski.

They are backed up by a wonderful supporting cast including Anthony Nuccio as Kenickie, Rori Nogee as Rizzo, Cameron Perry as Doody, Kari Grunberg as Frenchy, Ian Erbe as Sonny, Alicia Jayne Kelly as Marty, Derik Lawson as Roger, Emily Rourke as Jan, Ryan Bowie as Eugene Florczyk, Samantha Carroll as Patty Simcox, Matthew Smolko as Vince Fontaine, Matt Casey as Johnny Casino and Teen Angel, Ashley Knowles as Cha-Cha, and Leslie Greene as Miss Lynch.

The show is directed by Tom Thayer, and features the choreography of Alicia Jane Kelly who is appearing courtesy of the actors equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States.

All of your favorite scenes are there along with the songs that make them so memorable, the high romance of Danny and Sandy’s Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin, Itā€™s Raining on Prom Night, Look at me I’m Sandra Dee, We Go Together, Born to Hand Jive, and many more! Rizzo played by Rory Nogee does impassioned job with her rendition of There Are Worse Things I Could Do. The dance numbers are flawlessly done.

The sets as always with a Roxy production are outstanding. How they so effortlessly make such a small stage look so large I will never know. I especially loved the Burger Palace with its checkerboard pattern and red topped stools, the slumber party, and the prom/dance off. The detail touches were great including pictures at the slumber party, and the the green and white balloons which descended from the ceiling for the dance off. And let’s not forget the car they gave the show its name…
