LEAP to hold 5th Annual Dance Competition October 25th

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – LEAP organization is planning their 5th annual Step and Dance Crew Challenge on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 at West Creek High School. The event will take place between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. with admission only five dollars, children under seven are free.

Proceeds will be used to benefit youth performing arts and allow more participants to attend youth enrichment programs.

The event will showcase the talents of many of Clarksville middle and high school students in step and dance routines.

Several fraternities and sororities will demonstrate their talents as well. Comedian DJ Pryor will MC the event with a special performance by Clarksville Dancing with the Stars participants.

Vendors will be available during intermission.

Each year LEAP is excited to bring awareness, and feature the talents, of our areas youth in an event that is fun and entertaining for the community. Each team will have a total of 5 to 7 minutes to perform and will be judged based on routine fundamentals which include showmanship, use of floor, precision timing and overall performance as well as other requirements.

“We provide youth opportunities to become involved in their community and we love to bring together our youth at this event to showcase their talents,” said Richard “Reason” Garrett, program founder.

LEAP, which stands for Leadership, Enlightenment, Academic Achievement, and Perseverance, also teaches its members about Outreach, Responsibility, and Growth. LEAP provides mentoring, counseling, career development, educational field trips, and community service learning opportunities to student’s ages 11 to 18 free of charge.

LEAP receives referrals from the Juvenile Court, DCS, and the Clarksville Montgomery County School System and offers open enrollment for interested youth with parental consent.
