Clarksville Police Officers respond to Suicide call, get Ambushed

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Early this morning, Thursday, February 5th, 2015 at 12:48am, the Clarksville Police Department responded to a suicidal male subject in the area of Parade Drive and Firebreak Drive. The subject called 911 stating he was suicidal and would kill anyone who attempted to stop him.

As CPD Officers responded to the area, it appeared that the subject parked his vehicle in a location for an ambush as he fired at least two rounds that struck a patrol vehicle.

The responding Officers took cover, and a perimeter was set.

At 2:18am, the subject was found in the area with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The subject was found with a .223 Assault Rifle and a 45 caliber pistol.

The gunshot wound came from the .223 Assault Rifle. Officers also found a 7.62mm SKS Rifle in the subject’s vehicle.

Later the subject was identified as 29-year-old Jared Ballis from the Clarksville area. He is prior Army.

There is no further information at this time.
