Austin Peay Lady Govs’ Tiasha Gray earns named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior guard Tiasha Gray, of the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Gray again earned multiple weekly awards after her performance last week—a week that saw her average 22.5 points, 9.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals in Governor victories against Morehead State and Eastern Illinois.

The Clarksville native scored 28 points to go with her school record-tying 13 assists at Morehead State, leading the Govs to their season’s first road win.

She tacked on 17 points, six assists, three steals and four boards against Eastern Illinois in an 80-45 drubbing that was the second-largest OVC win by the Govs in program history.

Gray earned adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors, and was the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Player of the Week award, Tuesday. It was the second time in as three weeks that she won both honors. She also was accorded HEROSports.com’s Division I Women’s Basketball Hero of the Week.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included

  • Sophomore Josh Robinson, of the men’s basketball team, scored a career-high 39 points and hit the game-tying shot to send the contest into overtime in the Governors 90-86 win against SIU Edwardsville, Thursday. He also hit the game-tying shot to force overtime in Saturday’s contest against Eastern Illinois.
  • Senior Kymmalett Ross, of the track and field team, won the 200m dash at the Gladstein Invitational and finished sixth in the 60m dash for the Govs.
