Clarksville, TN – The suspect from the Bank of America robbery at 1108 Madison Street which occurred Thursday, February 8th, 2018 is in custody.
After the suspect’s photo was released by the media, tips came in, and the robber was quickly identified as Mike Rollins. Police worked throughout the night, located the vehicle Rollins had been in and, ultimately, tracked him down to room 222 at the Motel 6 located at 3080 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
Around 2:15am, Police were able to contact Rollins in the motel room, but he refused to come out.
Based on information provided to officers, he was believed to be armed so rooms in immediate proximity were evacuated.
The negotiators and tactical team were called to the scene. Through the deployment of tear gas and negotiations, Rollins exited the motel room on his own without injury. He was taken in custody around 7:30am. Police are obtaining a search warrant for the room and will be processing the scene.
Additional Information: During the course of the investigation it was determined that Rollins did, in fact, display a gun after he handed the note to the teller. On the initial response to the bank yesterday, we did not have that information.
Mike Rollins, 52 will be booked into Montgomery County Jail for: Robbery and will be served with two other active warrants for Violation of Probation and a Capias for Forgery. There is “Hold without Bond” for the Violation of Probation and a total of $112,000 Bond for the Robbery and Capias. Rollins has an extensive criminal history is currently out on bond for drug related charges.
