Nashville Predators embarrassed at home by Buffalo Sabres 7-4

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators fell to the visiting Buffalo Sabres at Bridgestone Arena tonight, 7-4.  To say this was an embarrassing loss would be an understatement.

Nashville still leads the central division of the Western Conference, but only by five points over Winnipeg, who beat the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight.

Buffalo’s Sam Reinhart tipped his hat to the Predators with his hat trick, while Jack Eichel had a career high five assists.

This was a game that the Predators want to quickly forget.

Nashville’s Viktor Arvidsson left the game with an undisclosed injury, and Pekka Rinne was replaced by Juuse Saros in goal for the third period.  Rinne was tagged for 6 goals on the night.

The game took a very somber turn at 14:09 of the second period, when Buffalo defenseman Viktor Antipin was taken off the ice on a stretcher after a hit by Nashville’s Scott Hartnell.

Hartnell was given a five minute “major” penalty, and a game misconduct.  The hit appeared to be a legal hit during the course of the action, but Antipins head appeared to snap backwards in a “whiplash” motion and he dropped to the ice.

There were no updates on the injuries during the game at presstime.

The Predators are traveling tonight for a Sunday matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Game time is 5:00pm.
