Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators saw their winning streak come to an end tonight against the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2, on a controversial call late in the game that would have tied the score, 2-2.
Nashville’s Colin Blackwell was called for goaltender interference with about three minutes remaining, after the Predators scored the game tying goal, and the goal was waved off by officials.
The replay showed that Blackwell was pushed into the goalie after the puck was in the back of the net, but the referees chose to wave off the goal and call the penalty on Blackwell.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators picked off the Ottawa Senators tonight at Bridgestone Arena and gathered up two valuable points in the process, 3-2.
Nashville, trying to fight their way into the wild card race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, used the power play to their advantage, and held off a decimated Senators squad for the win.
Ottawa drew first blood though in this one, as Thomas Chabot scored at 4:53 of the opening period, grabbing a loose puck from the circle and beat Juuse Saros in net for the Predators for the 1-0 lead.
St. Louis, MO – The Nashville Predators defeated the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues in a hotly contested game today, 4-3.
This is the first of a “back-to-back” series against the Blues, with St. Louis visiting Nashville on Sunday afternoon.
This game is a nationally telecast contest as part of “Hockey Day in America.”
The tone of this game was set early when Nashville’s Filip Forsberg dropped the gloves against Brayden Shenn of the Blues at 4:54 of the opening period.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators were hoping to “kick start” the second half of their season tonight after their “bye” week but the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs had other ideas.
The Leafs took the game 5-2.
The Predators, who are in desperate need of some wins, came out with some reshuffled lines, but fell behind early on William Nylander’s goal at 4:13 of the opening period to take the early 1-0 lead.
Nashville came right back though at 4:53 when Mikael Granlund took a pass from Matt Duchene on the 3 on 1 break to score the equalizer past Frederik Anderson for the 1-1 score.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators just can’t score goals as they continue to dig themselves a huge hole, trying to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, losing to the Anaheim Ducks tonight, 4-2.
Juuse Saros took the loss in goal for Nashville, while John Gibson gets the win in Smashville. Saros faced 27 shots on goal, while Gibson took 35 on net.
Josh Manson got the scoring started for the Ducks, taking a cross-ice feed from Ondrej Kase at 10:01, for the wrist shot that beat Saros and the early 1-0 lead.
Chicago, IL – The Nashville Predators got a breakthrough win tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-2. It was the first win for new head coach John Hynes.
The highlight of the night came in the final seconds of the game when Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne scored his first EVER goal from his own net.
The Predators started strong against Chicago, dominating the first period and taking a 3-0 lead after the opening frame. Goals from Viktor Arvidsson at 3:16, Colin Blackwell at 8:22, and Matt Duchene at 16:55 proved to be a dominating period.
Nashville, TN – In their first game under new head coach John Hynes, the Nashville Predators fell hard to the visiting Boston Bruins, 6-2.
It’s been a whirlwind of activity over the last 48 hours with the dismissal of Peter Laviolette and the hiring of Hynes, hoping to spark a Nashville team that has now lost four of their last five games.
Boston picks up their first win in four games with the victory.
The Bruins were all over the Predators from the start. Brad Marchand and Viktor Arvidsson were sent to the box just 14 seconds into the game when Marchand cross-checked Arvidsson, who was then called for embellishment.
Pittsburgh, PA – The Nashville Predators dropped the second game of a two game series with the Pittsburgh Penguins, 6-4, after a controversial late game penalty against the Predators.
Nashville had dug themselves out of an early deficit to tie the game at 4-4, but with less than two minutes remaining, Austin Watson was called for goalie interference after being knocked into Pittsburgh goaltender Matt Murray.
The ensuing power play was all the Penguins needed to seal the game as Jake Guentzel stuffed the winning goal past Pekka Rinne. An empty netter by Bryan Rust gave us the final score, 6-4.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators showed the affects of the Christmas break tonight, as they were completely outplayed by the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins, 5-2.
Pekka Rinne started in net for Nashville, but was chased from the game with a little over five minutes remaining in the opening frame.
This is the first of a back-to-back series with the Pens, as the two teams will travel to Pittsburgh for tomorrow night’s game.
Dominik Simon got things started for Pittsburgh at 2:17 of the first period firing a shot that beat Rinne between the legs and the Pens took the lead, 1-0.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators stormed out of the gate against the Arizona Coyotes tonight, taking a 2-0 lead, but had to hang on for the win, 3-2.
Predators Captain, Roman Josi and netminder, Pekka Rinne, put on quite the show tonight to lead their team to the victory. Josi with the winning goal and Rinne standing tall in net to help their team to the win.
In a game with only three penalties, it was fast and furious hockey. Nashville dominated play through the first two periods, out-shooting their opponent, 35-20. The Predators out-shot the Coyotes 22-5 in the first period alone.
