Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators have now won back to back central division titles with a season ending win over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks, 5-2.
With the title the Predators are the #1 seed headed to the Stanley Cup playoffs and will have home ice advantage.
The win tonight was another come from behind gem for Nashville as they found themselves down 2-0 after the first period.
Brendan Perlini scored with the one-timer just three minutes into the game. Then Drake Caggiula scored at 10:07 into the opening frame and the Blackhawks had the early 2-0 lead.
But that would be all she wrote for Chicago.
Dante Fabbro scored his first NHL goal on an amazing wrist shot at 9:07 of the second period to cut the lead to a goal, 2-1.
Then Filip Forsberg nailed a slap shot at 18:50 of the second frame to draw even, 2-2.
Into the third period and needing a win to secure the division title, Nashville played like the team we all know they can be.
Viktor Arvidsson scored the winning goal at 3:33 of the third period and set the franchise record for scoring, with a sweet wrist shot that beat Cam Ward over the shoulder and Nashville took the lead, 3-2.
Colton Sissons made it 4-2 at 17:51, then Nick Bonino capped off the Nashville scorning at 19:03 for the final, 5-2.
The Stanley Cup playoffs begin next week and at press time it hadn’t been announced when the Predators would play their first game.
